I don't think Wallace is untradeable but the question is whether anyone would like what we get for him.

The possible options as I see them are:

    1. A player/players with an even longer contract who looks similarly bad. EG Nene or Kenyon Martin or Boris Diaw. The question with a trade like that is if those guys are so bad themselves, why are they worth the risk of an additional year of big money to them.

Not saying they definitively aren't... there's something to be said for the fact that a guy like Nene or Martin or Diaw is younger than Wallace and is more likely to at least give you something productive down the road. But still, you're trading one bad contract for another and hoping for a resurgence from the guy you're getting.

    2. You trade Wallace + something valuable for a shorter contract. Like, Wallace has 2 more years left and Wally Sczerbiak only has 1 years left of a big money deal. Maybe if properly induced, the Sonics would be willing to absorb Wallace's deal. A move like that doesn't even get us under the salary cap though, unless the guy going out is Gordon, and in that case, we're giving up a whole lot for just cap space.

    3. You find someone desperate the way the Pistons managed to unload Nazr Mohammed on MJ. I bet Joe Dumars spent the time the fax machine took to send the paperwork to the league office praying the Bobcats weren't coming to their senses and nixing that deal. What teams out there might do something like that? You've got the Suns who have luxury tax troubles, long term deals (Diaw, Marcus Banks), unhappy players (Marion), and a closing window on a championship where a motivated Wallace could potentially help.

You've also got the Clippers, who have a guy they'll be paying a lot with a serious injury (Brand) who's up for a contract. That's a very uncertain situation for a team that traditionally doesn't pay out much. That might be worth exploring.

And of course the Knicks, since they've been responsible for most every good thing John Paxson has done to date.

The Lakers are a possibility, Putting Ben Wallace with a young big like Bynum might get you Lamar Odom, his deal expires after next season.

I'd be on that deal like a homeless man on a ham sandwich.

I'd settle for Kwame Brown, to be honest. Wait a minute, that makes it sound like I'd be upset. I guess I'd be pretty happy about it.

    Dallas makes sense IMO

Wallace for Stackhouse , Diop, Ilunga Menga

    That gives them

    Wallace
    Nowitski
    Howard
    Hassell
    Harris

    Terry
    Dampier
    George
    Barea

I might add that all these guys from Dallas are expiring contracts

This is definately a deal I would do if we could move Hinrich with Khyrapa and Griffin as filler to New Jersey for Jason Kidd

This would give us a backcourt of Kidd and Gordon with Stackhouse as 3rd guard and the ideal guy to go in a running offense with Kidd

Imagine Deng, Thomas and Noah and probably even Sefolosha in an offense with Jason Kidd.....Jerry Stackhouse too

    Noah
    Smith
    Deng
    Gordon
    Kidd

    Thomas
    Stackhouse
    Nocioni
    Duhon
    Sefolosha
    Gray

    Interesting, SKC.

I would rather see Dampier come back to the Bulls in the deal and actually play the heck out of the guy. I don't know why he doesn't get recognition for what he does on the court or why Dallas doesn't play him full-time at the C position. He's not a big scorer, but does hit a high % of his shots. He rebounds and blocks shots and is a darned good defender, otherwise.

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure Wallace can bring his best/A game if he was happy with the way he was treated by the coach - we may be pretty happy with the results!

Do you see any trade possibilities to bring us a 2nd star veteran to go with Wallace?

If Wallace is retained ....Pau Gasol is the perfect fit.

And if that means giving up Luol Deng , Chris Duhon and Joakim Noah for Pau Gasol and Mike Conley Jr then so be it

I would still be doing my damdest to get Jason Kidd as well with Kirk Hinrich being the principal..maybe with filler like Viktor Khyrapa and Adrian Griffin and a 2008 1st round draft pick ( top 5 protected )

    Wallace
    Gasol
    Nocioni
    Gordon
    Kidd

    Gray
    Smith
    Thomas
    Sefolosha
    Conley Jr

That's some serious wheeling and dealing there Abe.

Dampier's a guy I've thought about too, but the one problem with him is he always seems hurt. I guess in the end I don't like Wallace very much.

I agree that if we landed Gasol, however, Wallace would be ideal, and if you get two guys like that then adding Kidd would start to make some sense.

I would too to be honest

Ben Wallace for Kwame Brown ,Ronny Turiaf ,Trevor Ariza

    Bynum
    Wallace
    Odom
    Bryant
    Fisher

We deal Brown and Ariza on to Memphis ( $12M of contract relief ) with Luol Deng , Thabo Sefolosha and a top 5 protected 1st round pick for Pau Gasol and Mike Miller

Hinrich is dealt to New Jersey for Jason Kidd

    Turiaf
    Gasol
    Nocioni
    Miller
    Kidd

    Noah
    Smith
    Thomas
    Gordon
    Duhon

No change financially really on that you don't pay Deng, Wallace and Hinrich but pay Gasol, Miller and Kidd

You still intend to pay Gordon but use him as the 6th he is suited for

It's just too bad that 3-way deal with the Lakers and Kings fell through at the beginning of the season. The rumored trade was Wallace to Sac-town, Artest to L.A. and Kobe to the Windy City. I would have liked that deal.

Some Jazz fans threw around the idea of Memo, Jargon, *Giri (now gone) & a 1st for Big Ben. Giri's expiring contract & the 1st are both gone now, which probably ends that idea.

I would have loved that deal for the Bulls. Memo gives the Bulls a big who can consistently hit the outside shot, and he's big enough to alter some shots. Giri would have given us a badly needed scorer as well.
