He's mentioned a lot around here, since UCLA is a local team. I don't watch college basketball a lot, but wasn't he ranked as one of the top freshman this season? If he decides to enter the draft this year, where will he be taken? I see on most mock drafts he is a middle first round pick...

I haven't really followed him that much. I do remember him being kinda slow though.

He's a little undersized, but he should be a good mid to late pick.

What about Eric Gordon? Can he transition well into the pros like Ben Gordon? Will he be better, or worse?

Here's one on Chris Wright, the reason I'm so high on Dayton at the moment. For whatever reason, I've gotten a chance to see them just as much as any club this year, and Wright always stands out.

Chris Wright (Dayton)
Power Forward
6'8", 214 lbs.

Not to be confused with fellow freshman Chris Wright of Georgetown, Chris Wright of Dayton may fly under the radar for a few years because he plays for a mid-major, but make no mistake, he had looks from just about every high-major in the nation out of high school. Dayton just wound up being his school of choice because of its proximity to his hometown of Trotwood, right down the road from the school's campus. Despite his age, Wright is second on the Flyers in scoring this season with 12.5 ppg and leads the team in rebounds with 7.1 rpg. One of the main reasons for Dayton's 10-1 start, Wright has both the body and the game of a Tyrus Thomas (sans the shotblocking ability but with a better attitude). He'll probably run into problems on the next level if teams want him to try to become more of a perimeter oriented player, because his range is limited, but while in college, his combination of aggressiveness and agility under the basket should be admired. Very few players with his athleticism (it is reported he has a 40" vertical) can crash the boards and bang in the post the way Wright can. Odds are that if he sticks around at Dayton all four years, he'll be an All-American before he graduates.

Top Performances:

26 pts (10-13 FG), 12 rbs vs. Toledo
22 pts (9-11 FG), 13 rbs vs. ETSU

I like Dayton, too bad we don't get them @ home this year, woulda liked to seen them in person. Brian Roberts is awesome.

Keep your eye on Davon Jefferson at USC. He may need another year or two in college to further develop needed skills to succeed in the NBA, such as his shaky ball handling and shot selection, but I think this kid is a real talent with an extremely bright future. He's an absolute freak athlete, very long, has a nice little jumper from the outside, and he really is one of those extremely active guys that has a knack for making plays defensively.

I've yet to watch a BC game this year, but a lot of people around here are talking about Rakim Sanders, as well.

Wasn't Glen Davis just a perimeter player his last year in college after he was on slim fast or some like that? He didn't earn the name Big Baby playing on the perimeter.....

Jeff Allen
Power Forward / Virginia Tech
6'7" 220

I think the 220 pounds was on a broken scale cuz this kid was a powerhouse in the paint when I saw him. He was a pretty strong player in the paint, and was able to get pretty good position against other bigs. Right now he's kind of a bit inconsistent, but he's reminds me of Craig Smith a few years back. He's good at utilizing his weight, and makes great moves in the paint to get high % shots. Right now he's not in the greatest shape as a freshman, but once he gets into the VT program, he'll get even stronger and gain better conditioning. He'll probably be a 3-4 year guy due to the fact that's he's only 6'7".

James Anderson
Shooting Guard / Oklahoma State
6'6" 195

Anderson started off the year smoking hot, and was in the top 10 in scoring I believe but has cooled down since. He is the key to success if OK St. wants to do anything this year or the next few. He has been giving the reins on the offensive end due to the early departure of JamesOn Curry. The stroke of this guy is silky smooth, and reminds me of Caron Butler when he was in college. He is also going to a great school for defense, which will benefit him in the long run. He'll get stronger, tougher, and more mentally prepared for the NBA as long as he keeps his nose to the grinding stone at OK St.

Austin Daye
Small Forward / Gonzaga
6'10" 190

Gonzaga has grabbed a fantastic SF yet again. Austin Daye has one of these most versatile games out of any of the freshman I've seen so far. He puts up numbers similar Andre Iguodala put up at Arizona a few years back, but Daye seems a lot more fluid offensively like Marcus Williams, formerly of Arizona. He probably will end up being a 3-4 year guy since there is kind of a log jam at the SF position for the Zags, making his time somewhat limited. Daye is probably going to be the best forward out of Bouldin or Micah Downs on the next level, and maybe even the college game. He should be a dominant college player, just needs to get stronger so he isn't a 6'10" totem pole.

Taylor King
Small Forward / Duke
6'6" 230

As much as I hate Duke, this California native has brought his flaming hot touch to the East Coast. King is naturally a SF but Coach K has been using him at PF quite a bit this year, which might hide his true talents on the perimeter. Some days this kid looks like he's somewhat overrated but other day this guy can shoot from anywhere on the court. He's had a couple of games where Dicky V was going crazy, "This kid is super scentilating sensational, he's crazy! This diaper dandy is absolutely crazy, he's reminds me of ......blah blah blah". You know, all the different ways that Dicky V says he gets hard-ons from watching the kid. He has a lot of work to do though if he wants to maximize his talent.

He has a shot, but he's a guy I'd expect to really make or break himself in workouts and pre-draft camps.
