There's a bunch of OVERLOOKED and I mean OVERLOOKED underclassmen (frosh and soph) being in college hoops..here's a few of them and their stats...no particular order. DJ Augustine - Texas (SO) 20.1 PPG - 2.7 RPG - 1.5 SPG - 6.3 APG 45% shooting, 44% from 3-point range, 84% from the line Jerryd Bayless - Arizona (FR) 18.5 PPG - 4.2 APG - 3.2 RPG 48% shooting, 44% from 3-point range, 82% from the line Chris Warren - Mississippi (FR) 15.1 PPG - 5.7 APG - 2.4 RPG 41% shooting, 35% from 3-point range, 80% from the line Hasheem Thabeet - Connecticut (SO) 10.5 PPG - 8.6 RPG - 3.4 BPG 55% shooting, 51% from the line James Anderson - Oklahoma State (FR) 17.2 PPG - 1.1 SPG - 3.3 RPG 45% shooting, 43% from 3-point range, 79% from the line Raymar Morgan - Michigan State (SO) 16.8 PPG - 1.7 APG - 7.0 RPG 49% shooting, 32% from 3-point range, 69% from the line Derrick Caracter - Louisville (SO) 13.1 PPG - 7.4 RPG 56% shooting, 53% from the line Andrew Ogilvy - Vanderbilt (FR) 19 PPG - 6.5 RPG - 1.3 BPG 67% shooting, 76% from the line Nick Calathes - Florida (FR) 14.8 PPG - 4.6 RPG - 5.5 APG - 1.8 SPG 42% shooting, 37% from 3-point range, 76% from the line Donte Green - Syracuse (FR) 18.8 PPG - 8.3 RPG - 1.3 SPG - 2.2 BPG 46% shooting, 37% from 3-point range, 76% from the line
Good thread. Also check out the Freshman thread, a couple good names in there that are under the radar.
Great thread, playa. I agree with it, but I have 3 to add to the list. I'm not gonna search for stats, but I think the USC boys Taj Gibson and Davon Jefferson aren't getting enough love. Mayo soaks up all the attention, as he should, but I really like Gibson and Jefferson. Gibson is such a versatile defender, and I don't think his stats reflect his production. Davon Jefferson is rapidly becoming one of my favorite young players in the country, and while I think he may need an extra year before he comes out and enters the draft, he's a big time talent and a game changer right now at the college level. My third one is another Texas Longhorn, Damion James. He works as hard, if not harder, than any college basketball player when he's on the floor. He's a lock down defender at the college level, as well. His activity is just unbelievable, though. I'm a big fan of James.

Qa'rraan Calhoun destroyed him when Calhoun was a senior and Caracter was a junior at the Battle on the Boardwalk tourney in Asbury Park.
Jordan Hill - PF/C - Arizona 13.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.4 bpg, 63% FG% Over the past 4 games Hill is putting up 17 ppg, 13 rpg, 1.5 bpg. Just watch him play, he isnt going to set the world on fire every game, but he sure looks like a NBA PF to me. UA fans are calling him mini Amare.
I agree, Hill started off the season well and has really turned his game up as of late. I checked out the Arizona/Illinois game and he was absolutely on fire that game. See, he was overlooked, even by me. I didn't realize that he was only a sophomore.
Also, expect Hill to declare and likely enter if he is hearing his name in the first round. Hill already has a child and doesnt exactly have a lot of money. I think he is a probable first rounder next year if he continues to improve, but we all know how scouts and GMs grade athletic big men. Next year at UA could be special if Hill, Bayless, and Budinger stick around to play with Brandon Jennings and Jeff Withey.
Add Arinze Onuaku and Paul Harris to that list. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=27188 http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=31825 Both are sophomores, and are strong presences down low for Syracuse.
Ryan Anderson. Dude leads the pac-10 in scoring (21.6 ppg), 5th in rebounding (9.3 rpg), shoots 54% from the field, 44% from 3, and 84% from the FT line. Also, Patrick Christopher from Cal is playing very well. 17.6 ppg (5th in the pac-10) along with 3.7 rpg. Hes playing very well for a solid Cal team.

Fact is, he produces, despite not being the most athletic or flashy.
