The bulls need to do something to kickstart Hinrich's game. You'd think playing him against other teams' 2nd units would give him a chance against the "weaker" competition, but this way he gets to shoot pretty much as much as he wants (or let Wallace or Duhon shoot it more!). Talk about coaching by proxy... this is playing PG by proxy
Any new coach would do the same thing and experiment with the lineup. I'm sure there will be a lot of lineup and rotation changes until he finds a mix he's comfortable with. Having Hinrich come off the bench to jump start his season sounds like a good idea actually, and now would be the time to do it without getting a lot of grief.
We're going back to what worked way back when ( briefly ) when Skiles took over I am not opposed to Chris Duhon being our starting point guard because quite frankly Kirk is not a point guard All of this is designed to get the flow of our offense going but also to be setting the tone defensively which is what Duhon can do. He is never going to be a scorer and if we are not going to swing a trade for a legit big time point guard like Jason Kidd we need a bigger scoring guard Which is why I want to see what a smaller scoring guard with some handle like JamesOn Curry can do . If he can get some playing time and prove that he can give us a lot of what Ben Gordon can then we have Duhon as lead point , Curry as smaller scoring guard from the bench which then allows us to look at trade options for Kirk and Ben So... moving Kirk for Jason Williams ( expiring contract )and Dequan Cook may make some sense ..... If we could also send out Ben Gordon and Ben Wallace for Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown , Ronny Turiaf - with Odom , Nocioni and Brown and Chicago's 2008 draft pick ( top 5 protected going to Memphis, Mike Miller and a future 1st round draft pick from Memphis going to the Clippers and Pau Gasol , Corey Magette and Ronny Turiaf coming to Chicago Turiaf Gasol Deng Magette Duhon <u>bench</u> Noah Smith Thomas Cook/Curry Williams Bottom line is our Hinrich and Gordon really need to go The majority of our problem is on the perimeter and our crap ball movement . That and the sucktitude of Ben Wallace
So we bench the guy who was our best player last night? Not bench that idiot point guard who led the 2nd quarter collapse? I guess these are the types of coaching moves you get when you hire a guy who has just been the assistant coach on a bunch of bad and mediocre teams. I guess I'll be praying for a ton of early fouls on Hinrich from now on. Hopefully Carlisle, Van Gundy, Brown etc. can come in and try to salvage the season before Boylan beats us into the ground too much. Although I suspect that Paxson wants this too, so he can drive Gordon's value into the ground before free agency. Whats next, Deng to bench, Nocioni to start?
We cannot have a one game wonder person, BG7. Gordon seems to play better off the bench. Maybe it is because he is more relaxed and already knows what is needed of him. Until Gordon can be comfortable from start, he needs to come off the bench. I agree, rwj. As for Kirk...It is isn't so much he needs to go, he just needs to be more keen to his responsibilities. It is like Hinrich knows what he has to do, but just doesn't take the right approach, or he will take the right approach but then not execute it 100 percent. Hinrich has one of the best strokes and minds, but his execution is killing it all.

He has the ball in his hands, he's the playmaker. Boylan is doing an above average job, because Gordon as the man off the bench is better than Gordon being ignored as Hinrich dribbles around. Boylan would be a great coach if he benched Hinrich, and let Gordon run the offense from the offset of the game.
