I don't know how many Sixers fans we have here, if any, but I'm going to make this thread anyway.

I've noticed that Thaddeus Young's minutes have gone up as of late, and I'm just curious about his progression in his young (no pun intended) career. If you all remember, he was highly touted as one of the top 5 prospects before the 2006-2007 NCAA season began. Then, he went to Georgia Tech and made it clear that he was raw and still had a long way to go. His stock slipped tremendously, and the former top 5 prospect in many peoples' eyes turned into what most people felt was a reach with the 12th pick in the draft (I agree).

Based on reports you guys have read and things you've been hearing/seeing, how does he look? Is he making steady progress?

    I'm curious about him too.

I was very high on him pre-draft but I haven't heard anything about him once he got drafted.I usually hear a lot about the Sixers too so its kind of surprising.

He looks lost on the court. Tries to rely on his athleticism too much, and doesn't get him anywhere in the NBA. Only game that I've been impressed with his play in was the huge comeback against Portland. He's getting most of his points off layups, can't hit a J, still.

Well, I can't really comment so well on Thaddeus Young because I don't live in the Philadelphia area anymore, so I don't get many games. When he was first drafted, he was drafted as a project. Nobody thought he was going to be ready for a couple of seasons, but his potential is definetely there. From all that I've read, he has a great attitude, and he's a hard worker. He hasn't been seeing much playing time this season because the roster is stacked with swingman, and personally, I think he should be taking some playing time from Kyle Korver since Korver really hasn't shown much at all this season. His time will come though, the kid is extremely raw, but if he continues to work hard, I do believe he will be a special player.

Btw, there used to be a lot of Sixer fans, I don't know what happened to them, most left I guess

The first thing you notice about him is his wingspan. Thaddeus Young has some LONG ass arms. I agree with Kid Chocolate's viewpoint. He's raw still and relies on his athleticism without much fundamental skill.

I also haven't seen him play really at all. Was he a good pick? and will he fulfill the vast potential that people said he has?

Too early to determine if he was a good pick or not. He does give effort on the court which is promising, but I've only see him play in garbage time. It's up to him on whether or not he reaches his potential by working hard in the offseason and expanding his game.

That was raw athleticism/talent more than anything. I agree with KC's assessment as well. He still looks a little out of place at times and made rookie mistakes on defense. I can see why they gave him a shot at that position and it'll probably be a few seasons before we can properly judge that pick (kind of like the Marvin Williams pick).

From watching him play the Lakers this year, he has nice rebounding skills.
