<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Matt Hughes' book)</div><div class='quotemain'>Tim Sylvia walked over to me during practice. His back was hunched a bit, like Pat's is, but Pat I could look in the face. ˜Can I talk to you a second?" he asked. "Sure thing." He led me into an office and we sat down on two chairs. "No one here's got a problem with me except you," he began. "When I first started, Jens would say I'm a fat piece of s*** who's never going to amount to anything, and he'd get me crying, but now even Jens likes me. Is there a problem?" He was waiting for me to tell him there was a big misunderstanding or to apologise [sic], like I wasn't aware of what I was doing. "Yeah, I really don't like you,? I told him . . .</div> This is an excerpt from Matt Hughes' book "Made in America" (wonderful title...) in which he demonstrates his devout Christian values by treating teammate Tim Sylvia like a piece of shit. I suppose its probably part of a larger story in which Timbo learns to work hard and becomes a champion and "earns" Matt Hughes' friendship... it makes you wonder if the ridicule and overall dickery Tim was subjected to at the Militech camp was what led to him getting on steroids, which helped him win a title but also helped him be stripped of it. You have to go to great lengths to get me to feel anything but animosity towards Sylvia. I mean, I really dislike the guy. He cheated to win a title, ducked guys like Jerome LeBanner during his reign, puts on boring fights, once held a contest in which he wanted fans to spend $100 for a lottery ticket, the winner getting a chance to go bear hunting with Tim and his gaggle in Ontario (100 tickets sold amounts to $10,000 in Tim's pocket to pay for the trip and then some--on the backs of his biggest fans), and sold an "autographed" game console on an online auction site like a freaking parasite. Like, I just really, really don't like him. But I feel bad for him after reading this story. That's how much of a dick Matt Hughes is.
Yeah I'm not a fan of either fighter and Hughes is definitely a prick. He's already building in excuses for his upcoming fight.
Matt Hughes is a Dick and Tim Sylvia seems like one of those big awkward kids who got picked on in HS and now that the tables are turned and he's a 'someone', he's being just as big an ass. He tries to sound confident and be entertaining when interviewed in the ring after a win but he doesn't have the charisma, he sounds like a tool. as for LeBanner, I'm not sure it was Tim who wouldn't fight him or if the UFC wouldn't do a one and done contract or pay him K-1 level money to fight. It's not like LeBanner had been in the UFC and Tim ducked him like Tito ducked Chuck for years.
