Season ticket holders who'd rather skip out on the mostly meaningless game for the Giants have put their hard-to-get tickets up for sale on Web sites like StubHub, eBay, and Craigslist. Some are getting a little carried away. Tickets to see the potential milestone are selling for as much as $1,600 a piece on StubHub, and up to $2,500 on eBay. Yes, $2,500 for a non-playoff game that will be aired on three different networks, a new NFL milestone in and of itself. You could sit home and switch between CBS, NBC, and the NFL network and make your own history -- it's the first three-network simulcast of an NFL game ever -- for free. The ridiculous asking prices had some Giants players scratching their helmets. "We don't need fans like that. And that's okay. It's their money. Like [Jeremy] Shockey always said, if they pay their taxes, they can do what they want with their stuff," linebacker Antonio Pierce said. A 20-person luxury suite is even up for grabs on StubHub. Got $26,114 sitting around? (That's $1,305.70 per person). Talk about a sour suite deal. "Twenty-six thousand to come watch a game? I mean I could understand for the Super Bowl, but for this? It's taking on a life of its own," defensive end Michael Strahan said. "That's a little crazy. I wish I had known. I got a buck.They can come holler at me." An average ticket to a Giants game runs about $84. Yeah, um, not this week. Competition is thick for New Yorkers who have no problem ripping off those rival Boston fans. There are 108 listings for tickets on StubHub and over 700 on eBay. But some of the Giants players don't seem too upset with fans. Even Strahan understood. "I'll tell you right now, tickets are expensive. If I could make a few bucks to pay for the tickets for the whole season on one game, and I could sell mine? I'd sell mine, too," he said. As I'm getting ready to lie down for a Benadryl-fueled nap, I turned on the TV which is tuned to the NFL Network as usual. While Adam Schleeper was talking, I could hear a singer warming up on the National Anthem. If I'm right, tonight's National Anthem will be sung by Crystal Lewis. Crystal is a fairly well-known gospel/pop singer that had her closest brush with mainstream fame when she sang on this video. (Man, she got to sing with Bono.) She really is an incredible singer. I saw her at a music festival once and was amazed at how a voice so big could come out of someone so tiny. I could be wrong and it might have been someone else. Nah, I'm not wrong. (Have I ever mentioned that I'm a music junkie?)
I was wrong after all. The singer tonight was Idina Menzell. They tricked me by bringing in a Broadway musical singer. That's not fair. Turd Orifice is probably the only one watching the game tonight who would have guessed her correctly.
