UCF's Kevin Smith within 181 yards of single-season record

It could be a special moment in NCAA history today. Barry Sanders's 19-year record for most rushing yards in a single-season is up for grabs today when Central Florida takes on Mississippi State.

Here's a little stat comparison...

Yards: 2,448
TD's: 29

1988 Barry Sanders
Attempts: 344
Yards: 2,628
TD's: 37

I still think Sanders' season was much more impressive though...look at the amount of attempts in comparison and Smith still will need a bunch more today.

 

He's currently within 90 yards.

 

Miss State is making him work for every inch....

 

This record's staying in Barry's hands. Smith isn't going anywhere for the rest of the game.
