The Warriors could probably land a draft pick from Riley if they dealt Pietrus. The Heat also have the expiring contracts of Jason Williams (backup point guard solution?) and Ricky Davis (Nellie-type forward).

Warriors would have to send one or two more players out to match salaries.

    Something like this could work

Hudson + Croshere + Pietrus for Davis or Williams

Yiiiiiiiiiii! No Damon Stoudemire +++++++++++ (crosses to keep him away).

I like Ricky Davis a lot and would add another Davis to the team, but the Heat would probably want more in return. JWill has playoff experience, expiring contract and could work out, but he has left knee tendinitis and recently has had 60 game seasons. He will probably have less games this season. Would you trade MP and filler for him?

No way you ship out Croshere. He's been proven to be valuable.

Pietrus has some positives but man, I just watched him in person Friday night and he makes stupid fouls and his offense is horrible. Stupid traveling calls (last night) which even Barnett said in the NBA you should not be making uncontested walking violations. W's will probably just hold on to him to get some legitimate minutes out of him, D and boards.

I'd love to see the Warriors get Brevin Knight for Pietrus. The Clippers appear to be in cost cutting mode and with Cassell back and Dickau playing solid, it makes Knight expendable.

Pietrus can step in and try to play the role Ruben Patterson was playing for them.

Ricky Davis would be exciting on the Warriors and he'd love playing in their wide open offense. He would be another player who can create off the dribble, but where would they find minutes for him?

Knight would be great IMO, Williams could be good too since he has an outside shot and I wouldn't worry about his health issues since he will only play spot minutes anyway.

I would not want Davis at all. He would like playing in Nellie's system but he's playing for a contract and, I think, could be too shot happy and selfish (ever since he intentionally missed a layup to pad his stats and get a triple double I've lost all respect for him). Chemistry is a major positive for the W's and I would not want to risk that on a marginal improvement in Ricky Davis.

I don't see Warriors getting any multi-year contract like Knight. Grant that Knight's contract is only 2 years/ 2 mils, but Warriors actually didn't extend POB's contract to maximize capspace in this summer. I really won't mind J. Williams, since we desperately need a back up PG. But, salary doesn't match. Wonder we can get Wright instead...

Great game last night by Pietrus.

But again, how about his play with 10 sec left in regulation, Spurs down by 3, Ginobili drives down the middle and Pietrus leaves Parker in the corner wide open to help out on the drive? Whaaaat? And right in front of the Warrior bench. Will he ever learn?

After last night though, I do not think they trade him, he played huge on D and hit some big shots. I think he's finally learning his role on O.

I agree with you Phil about Pietrus sticking with this team for the rest of the season. He seems more comfortable in the offense this season and he's made some big plays on the defensive end. He's also had his fair share of bonehead mistakes, but at least Pietrus is starting to figure out his role on the team.

Mentally he might have finally accepted he's just a role player and not an up and coming superstar in the NBA. No more Air Pietrus ego and instead he's focusing on playing his position on the team.

However, he did recently say he'd like to play closer to Guadeloupe so maybe he's trying to improve his trade value so the Warriors get something decent in return for him?

Pietrus has the right to veto any trade.

We just got a NEW backup PG -- CJ Watson out of Tennessee, so a trade for MP may be on the back burner for now.

From RealGM: "In 16 games with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers this season, Watson averaged 26.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.38 steals in 38.1 minutes per contest, while shooting 50.6% (128-253 FG) from the field, 40.0% (18-45 3FG) from three-point range and 89.9% (149-166 FT) from the free throw line. He currently ranks third in the D-League in scoring, having scored 20-or-more points 14 times with six 30-plus efforts and one 40-point performance, while also ranking fifth in assists. He was named the NBA Development League Player of the Month for December."

I think it's unlikely that we'll trade Pietrus to the Heat. I think they'll use the expiring contracts of Davis and Williams to land draft picks or something closer to the deadline when more teams are looking to their futures or hoping that a piece will get them into playoff race. Pietrus isn't a big enough commodity to trade for other prospects either, since he's still at the stage where he still hasn't shown enough improvement.

I like Watson. He's got a good basketball IQ and above average skills and plays under control. Kind of reminds me of Earl Watson. He's much better than trading for Smush Parker, and cheaper, too. The only downside is he doesn't create very much in the half court set, although he runs called plays well.
