I'm not going to assume but I'll lay out my own ideal draft as of.... right now. Also included are a few quick thoughts on some players. 1) C Long DE UVa 2a) Fred Davis TE So Cal 2b) Marcus Monk WR Arkansas 3) Wesley Woodyard LB Kentucky 4) J. Zenon CB LSU 6) J Leaman LB Illinois 7) J. Boone OT Utah Regardless of the Defensive scheme, Long is more of Parcells type player. When in big D, Tuna drafted another Cavalier DE (C Canty). I was watching the Music City Bowl and Woodyard really impressed me. He weighs 210 lbs so will probably be a SS @ the next level. Y Bell is just too injury prone. Heaven only knows the phins D could use a Bob Sanders/Polamalu type player. Marcus Monk is 6'6" 220 and an ideal compliment IMO for Ted Ginn. Its a shame former Razorback coach (H Nutt) insisted on playing Casey Dick @ QB. CD makes Jay Feidler look like Peyton Manning I had to be a bit of a homer and put a Ute in. Boone has played both OT positions in Urban Meyer's spread offense but Utah always seems to get Linemen that are maulers & its yet another project H Houck.
Id be happy with that draft....Parcells has a history of favoring defense(atleast early) and favoring bigger players so picking Long 1st is consistent with that trend....
You notice it's a SEC heavy draft. I had debated going with a QB but the only 2 that jump out at me are; Erik Ainge (Tennessee) & Paul Smith (Tulsa). Both could be acquired on day 2. Though, Smith may be available as a UDFA.
Its only early in the 2nd of the Gator Bowl, but, I want Chris Long in Aqua and Orange next year. The kid has the motor, skills, & attitude to be a star. He isn't making all the plays but is doing all the little things so the Cavalier D keeps the Texas Tech offense in check. The announcers just relayed that Al Groh believes Long will be a Mike Vrabel type and would get worn down playing inside play after play.
