Kidd: “Mentally, We’re Right There” January 1, 2008, 6:35 am It seems like we’ve been in this movie before: Nets start miserably, their captain makes noises about joining another ship"one with a more resolute crew, and then, the ship is righted and heads back out for battle. Jason Kidd seems happier that the team, with its sparkling new frontcourt, is under full sail, particularly up top…mentally. Nets' play has Kidd upbeat - Al Iannazzone - The Record
we are mentally right there until we lose two or three straight - which we are capable of doing easily. when we start going 7/8 outta 10 that would be a nice measuring stick if we have turned the corner or not. yes the recent week or so are positive signs, even the detroit game. well the first half at least we showed we can play with them, sadly we had to play the 3rd quarter and we were doomed. hopefully vince's mental state can stay at this level because when he plays at the high level he can we are a solid team. sadly im not sure how long we can count on that consistently.
I've been impressed with the most recent wins, especially since we've won 4 out of 5 against some quality opponents, which is pretty good. We've shown we can win close games, close out games after leading after 3 quarters, and also come back from being down 4, or down 6 late in 4th quarters. We've also managed to win without falling behind by double digits, and then having to claw our way back, which is what we seemed to have to do a lot with Collins and Allen starting. Basically, Sean and Josh > Collins and Allen. And Vince seems more recovered from his early season injury. Each game, the guys are learning how to play with each other better. You don't change the rotation every game and expect to be great immediately. So I think we're getting better, and we still have more players to get back from injury.
Kidd was trying to coach the team without getting into too much trouble with Collins, vets, and Frank. Kidd has been pushing to start at least Williams from the get go....who knows if his fits got him more attention from Frank on the minutes side as to who plays.
