Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom has been suspended one game without pay and assessed a Flagrant Foul, Penalty Two for flagrantly fouling Ray Allen of the Boston Celtics by throwing himself into Allen and knocking him to the floor, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Executive Vice President Basketball Operations. http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=236 http://rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines.asp...BA&hl=90465
It was obvious Odom was going to get suspended, this league hates the Lakers why?How many games did Barnes get when he almost killed Turiaf? How many games did Melo get for choking Sasha? League hates the Lakers. So **** them.

But yeah i guess they do hate the lakers if both of that stuff has occur but i remember a while ago in the playoffs. Kobe elbowed Bibby in the face and Bibby was bleeding and Bibby was called for the foul. I was cheering for the lakers but i thought the lakers were getting away with murder.
It doesn't really matter, we play the Sixers next. We are a better team with or without Lamar. The suspension is bullshit, I clearly remember that mid air hit on Ronny Turiaf, which was way nastier than Lamar's tackle on Ray Allen. Stern seems to love watching the Lakers struggle I guess, I'm not really surprised because I've gotten used to all this "unnatural basketball act" bullshit

QUOTE (Kid Chocolate @ Jan 1 2008, 04:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

He deserves to get suspended.
He does deserve to get suspended, but how come Matt Barnes, who committed a far worse "unnatural basketball act" than Lamar Odom gets off without a warning? That's absolute bullshit.
I'm not David Stern, I couldn't tell ya. You can say that Barnes not getting suspended was BS, but you can't say LO getting suspended is BS.

You can say that Barnes not getting suspended was BS, but you can't say LO getting suspended is BS.
I'm saying the suspension is BS because the league is not consistent what-so-ever. I bet if Lamar Odom threw someone down in midair with both hands, he would have gotten suspended. I just don't see how Lamar's flagrant is any worse than than Barnes flagrant
The suspension isn't bullshit..Odom didn't make a play for the ball and had an intent to hurt Ray Allen. Yeah I agree that Barnes should have been suspended for his foul but that's completely unrelated. So what if Ray Allen got seriously hurt and got a concussion? Would the suspension be "BS" then?
Nobody deserves to be punished if you point to the league's past decisions. Over the past few years, they've been consistently inconsistent. But if you judge that play on its own (without citing precedent), I think a suspension was warranted. And the NBA certainly doesn't hate the Lakers. If they did, the Lakers wouldn't be playing on Christmas every single year despite just being above .500 most of the time.

It was probably even worse than the tackle Lamar made, yet the guy didn't even get a single warning, not even fined.

It isn't related at all....every flagrent foul isn't going to be a suspension. That's why there's differences between types of flagrent fouls. And they're presented that way in the rules.

Barnes flagrant was the same, if not worse than Lamar's flagrant, yet he gets no suspension. Yes there are difference between flagrant fouls, and Barnes flagrant foul was probably even worse. The next time we play you guys and one of your players decides to go up for a dunk, we'll tell one of our guys to grab him midair with both hands and slam him to the floor. It probably wouldn't warrant a suspension so it doesn't matter to us
Last time I checked, tackling isn't allowed in the NBA by any means. This isn't football. It's a deserved suspension, most definitely. We all know the league FO is inconsistent with their suspension calls. Not any reason to say this suspension call was unfair.
http://uncutvideo.aol.com/videos/cb759804c...24dc8f5f933dc28 That foul is worst then what Odom did, but if Turiaf would have done it to barnes he would of been suspended.

Barnes wasn't suspended for that? Wow, that's pretty messed up. Because IMO that's on the same level with (not exactly worse than) what Odom did. Actually, what Odom did reminds me of Horry's foul on Nash in the playoffs. I just checked out the tackle again, and listen to KG when he blocks Lamar (Warning: There's swearing) :

None of us are disagreeing with you guys about the Barnes foul. But, if we follow your logic, nobody deserves a suspension unless its worse than that tackle and that's just ridiculous. It makes much more sense to agree that the NBA f'ed up by not punishing Barnes, but to stick with the current rulebook (which clearly says that Odom deserves a suspension).
