I had an interesting trip this weekend. I left for the Liberty Bowl from Orlando early Friday morning. 40's aren't sold in Florida and apparently they're a big deal to some people, so once we got to Valdosta we stopped to pick some up. They were downed in the parking lot of a gas station in true ghetto fashion. I said it was a bad idea since it will make everyone have to piss and we'd just have to stop a zillion times. Of course I was right. Anyway, instead of taking 78 like we should've done, we continued north to Chattanooga. We stopped there and walked around downtown for a little bit and then kept on trucking to Nashville. As we were exiting Nashville my tire blew out on 240. My spare is a donut, so we had to spend the night in Nashville. We got a room at Best Western and got trashed in the room. We found a place that sold Pirelli tires in the morning and got back on the road. We got to the stadium around 11 and met up with the rest of our group. We got some more 40's and a couple cases. We were all pretty hammered. Unfortunately for us Mississippi State is only two hours away so it was practically a home game for them. We were outnumbered by a large margin and let me say, those cowbells are annoying as ****. They should be banned. Why does a team called the Bulldogs have cowbells anyway? During the game one guy tried to ring it in front of my face. I wanted to grab it and smash him over the head with it. The game was a defensive struggle. We were in good position to win and we certainly should've won, but two missed field goals and dumb turnovers killed us. Our horrible QB threw the ball away with 4 minutes left and essentially cost us the game. They scored a touchdown soon after and we lost 10-3. Our defense was phenomenal for the most part as Mississippi State couldn't move the ball at all, but that turnover at the end of the game did us in. What's even worse is that Kevin Smith wasn't able to break Barry Sanders' single season rushing record, though he did still have a good game. I guess he'll have to do it next year. Some of the guys gave us **** about getting a flat in Nashville, but after the game their car wouldn't start and they ended up being stuck in Memphis for an extra day and a half. I guess Karma's a *****. We went to a restaurant in East Memphis called the Cajun Catfish. I heard really good things about Rendezvous Ribs and would've preferred to go there, but we were pretty wiped from the game so we settled for the Cajun place by our hotel. We went to Beale Street that night to drown our sorrows in booze and hopped around the different bars and clubs. Beale Street was really cool, though it's hard to remember a lot of it . It's definitely a good place to party. The *******s brought their cowbells to Beale Street, which wasn't cool. Anyway, we met a few State fans and drank with them for a bit. Kind of off topic, but Mississippi State has a lot of good looking women (not nearly as many as we do though) and that southern accent makes me cream a little bit too. The Tennessee girls were fine as well. I wanted to check out Graceland but we didn't have time. We left in the morning and went back the right way. I was feeling pretty down about our loss, but once we drove through Mississippi I realized that this is what Mississippi State fans have to come back to, and that cheered me up. There is absolutely nothing in Mississippi other than a few Wal-Marts. I'm not exaggerating either. We did see a few football fields next to churches, which of course isn't very stereotypical of the deep south at all . Anyway, we made it to Alabama and decided to stop in downtown Birmingham to check it out. It was a Sunday, so I'm assuming 310% of the population was in church speaking in tongues or something, but that place was a ghost town. There wasn't a soul in sight. There's really nothing there and it's a pretty dirty and raunchy city. We wanted some southern BBQ, but the only place open was a Greek restaurant by UAB, so we went there. We got back into O-town around 11 and passed out. All in all it was a pretty crazy trip that was well worth it. I'd certainly do it again, though it would be better if we win next time. Anyone else have some stories to tell?
nashville is a GREAT place, I hope you had a chance to hang out downtown. I'm not a country fan, but all music is good--nashville is such a unique city, that's its almost like going to a different country for a day.

It's one of my favorite cities. I went there last year. It's one of the friendliest cities I've been to. I went to the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, the Hermitage, and did the bar hopping thing on Broadway. I wouldn't mind living around that area actually. I can't remember the name of it, but there was a superb southern restaurant in Nashville that I went to also. I highly recommend it for anyone thinking about going. I'm not a country fan but it was a great experience.
