<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Bills quarterback J.P Losman wants out of Buffalo, unhappy with how he lost his starting job to rookie Trent Edwards during the 2007 season.

Losman's agent, Gary Wichard, told The Associated Press on Friday that his client would prefer to be traded, but added Losman would play out the final year of his contract if necessary. Wichard said he has not yet spoken to the Bills because the team is seeking a new general manager after Marv Levy stepped down earlier this week.

Whether the Bills choose to keep Losman, Wichard said he didn't see any chance of Losman remaining with the team after next season.

That ship has sailed, my friend," Wichard said. "Hopefully, they do something this year. And if not, we'll just walk away after next year."</div>

I can think of a bunch of positions where he'll be given a legitimate opportunity to win the starters job, but not any that'll hand it to him after what he's shown so far. And honestly, that's not all the different from the situation in Buffalo.

Trent Edwards showed, somewhat, that he can manage the game well in Buffalo, and they have a good running game with Lynch. Though Losman has a better arm, Edwards may be the better option in the long run anyway.

Wichard should have just taken this to management.

Plenty of teams could use Losman, so why reduce his trade value by announcing that he wants out?

If Buffalo doesn't get what they want for him, they would be foolish to trade him. Every team needs two viable QBs, especially when the starter is not a sure thing..

Alex Smith isn't a legit starter for the 49ers?

No Losman in Miami. Thank you.

I'd rather have Rex Grossman backup John Beck next year.

The jury is still out on Smith. He has all the tools, he's an intelligent guy, but he hasn't done a whole lot yet. Part of that is because he has no receiver to throw the ball too though. Either way, the 49ers can't pay a lot for a quarterback b/c there is no way they are eating Smith's contract and they have too many other holes to fill.

There's a little bit of dissention between Nolan and Smith. Surprised Nolan kept his job. He lost power though.

And Smith after a crappy rookie yr, started to show signs under Norv Turner, and then regressed this yr without him.

And yeah, no thanks to Losman in Baltimore.

Why not have J.P. join the other Tulane QB (P. Ramsey) backing up Cutler in Denver?
