I know this is a random thread, but has anyone else noticed Javaris's facial expression on the bench? He only has one, and this is how he looks like all the time:

But yesterday, when he was on the court and playing (while finishing with 19 points), he looked like this:

Moral? Give Javaris more playing time, let him take some minutes away from Sasha, and we'll all be happy!

Yeah I would love to see Crittenton play more time but the truth to the matter is that Sasha has been playing pretty good as of lately, hopefully Crittenton will get more playing time with he's performance yesterday.

I love the back court potential of Farmar/Crittenton. Those guys give the Lakers a nice change of pace off the bench and have a great vibe when they run the break together. Even PJax couldn't help but smile when Farmar and JCritt where lighting up the 76ers and making some highlight plays.

The reverse layup JCritt made was sick! Also the layup where he faked like he was passing, froze his man and then coasted in for an uncontested layup.

He reminds me of a young Gary Payton with the way he moves around the court and his shifty post moves. Not the defender the Glove was, but has a similar approach on offense.

Check out this old school Gary Payton college video.

Java is easily the fastest PG we've had in YEARS and his penetration skills are awesome, already. He's got amazing ball handling skills and is proving to be a good finisher.

Another thing about Javaris that I don't see in anybody else on the team outside of Kobe is his killer instinct. Javaris seems to have that chip on his shoulder, that swagger to be key in the clutch. The instinct reminds me of Kobe, Arenas, and Billups. I'm not comparing him to these players on any level, so Laker haters don't get your panties in a bunch, I'm just saying he's got the same clutch, killer swagger that they have.

I missed the game, but after watching those highlight clips of it (thanks for posting btw), I have just noticed a HUGE flaw in JCritt's game .... he has no offhand whatsoever. If you notice, his crosses are always left to right, he always penetrates right, and he always tries to finish with his right. Even that crazy layup he made was much more difficult than it needed to be.

yeah he's only 19 or whatever, but stilll .. that's fundamental basketball that he will need to work on ..

Hahahaha. Those pictures jus had me dyin laughin...

I was wondering when Javaris was gonna get some burn. It's cool that he finally got a chance, tho.

Seeing him play now, who do you guys think is better...Farmar or Crittenton? Or...do you think they could become a 1-2 punch, similar to what Calderon-Ford was in Toronto?

This is what I'm expecting our future line up in a few years to be:

    Farmar/Critt/Ariza/Turiaf/Bynum

I can see us letting Kobe walk.

I'm not. We aren't going to get equal value for Kobe, so we might as well just let him walk and give us cap room. And we can sign a good PF and replace him with Turiaf in the starting line up.

It's way too early to tell what type of player Crittenton will be in the future. I still have to see more of him, but the coaching staff seems to be very happy with the young man. He has a lot of potential, more star potential than Jordan Farmar. In the future, Farmar and Crittenton could be a great 1-2 punch at the point guard position (when Fisher retires). But Crittenton has good size, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them both on the court at the same time. After all, they both played together at the same time against the Sixers, and looked fantastic. Granted it was only against the Sixers, I feel very optimistic about this team's future, and I do believe Crittenton will be a great player one day. But he is still extremely raw at this point, like notmuchgame pointed out. The good thing is, he is only 19 years old. He will have time to improve.

    pg: Farmar (20)
    sg: Crittenton (19)
    sf: Ariza (22)
    pf: Turiaf (24)
    c: Bynum (20)

^We have a lot of young talent on this roster, insert Kobe in the lineup, and in a couple of years, we will be extremely dangerous

I see, thanks for all the insight. Must be nice to have 2 good future points. I'd like to see more of Crittenton myself, he seems like a pretty good player to me. I've only seen one or two games from him at college and a bunch of highlights, and he looked pretty damn good there.

    ^ No problem.

It's funny, because the point guard position has always been the weakness for us in the past (Chucky Atkins, Tierre Brown, Smush Parker, Aaron McKie, Shammond Williams), so it's a relief to finally find some stability in that position.

Brian don't forget about your boy Sun Yue. He might be the best one of the three when all is said and done.

If Sun Yue develops into a decent backup point guard, I'd be more than happy. lol.

Btw Yue is 6'9, he could probably play shooting guard and small forward too

I wouldn't count on it. .. I saw him on that chinese summer league team, and I saw some footage of him during pre-draft workouts .. and he looks really crappy .. he's like a poor man's perimeter version of Lamar.

He played well in one of the exhibition game (name escapes me right now), but he tore up DJ Strawberry.

Yue is rail thin though and needs to gain some weight and muscle mass. I do like his court vision and unselfishness on the court.
