I'd like to make a plea for Al Jefferson to start garnering votes into the all-star game. He has been one of the most consistent and efficient players in the 2007/2008 NBA season. Sure the Timberwolves haven't won many games that year but is that Al's fault? He's done all he can and that's getting double doubles nearly every night. And through the season bad coaching (Wittman) and chucking (Walker and McCants) have prevented him from getting the amount of looks he deserves. Outside of Tim Duncan he has the widest array of moves in the low-post in the NBA. Just watch the guy play and you'll know what I'm talking about. The numbers and his gameplay speak for themselves. 20.8 PPG 12.3 RPG (4.2 offensive) 1.4 APG 1.1 SPG 1.3 BPG 50% from the field 68% from the line Ranks #2 in the NBA in Double-doubles(24.0) Ranks #2 in the NBA in Offensive Rebounds(135.0) Ranks #2 in the NBA in Offensive Rebounds Per Game(4.2) Ranks #4 in the NBA in Rebounds Per Game(12.3) Ranks #5 in the NBA in Total Rebounds(393.0) Ranks #5 in the NBA in Field Goals Made(278.0) Ranks #6 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds Per Game(8.1) Ranks #8 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds(258.0) Ranks #9 in the NBA in Total Efficiency Points(773.0) Ranks #13 in the NBA in Efficiency Ranking(24.16) Ranks #21 in the NBA in Points Per Game(20.8) Please if you get a chance watch Al Jefferson play sometime and think about giving him some votes for the all-star game. At this point he's still an unknown to people outside of Boston and Minnesota it appears. He won't start because of the depth at forward in the West but just give him some votes..he's earned them. Maybe the coaches will vote him in but that remains to be seen. I wouldn't be shocked if he didn't make it this year but it would be nice to see him make it. He's a budding superstar.
It'd be nice to see him in there but there's just too much good forwards in the West. He's not going to make it ahead of Duncan, Marion, Dirk, Boozer or Anthony. And centers he's not making it ahead of Stoudemire, Yao or Camby.
Jefferson really needs to improve his defense to be talked about in the elite of forwards. Still very impressive for a 22 year old!
