<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Heat guard Dwyane Wade came off the bench for the second time this season in Sunday's loss to the Grizzlies. It was at his request.

Wade, who missed Friday's game at Dallas to recover from several nagging injuries, said he spoke with coach Pat Riley about coming off the bench just before the start of Sunday's game.

''I really don't do much in the first six minutes anyway,'' said Wade, who checked into the game midway through the first quarter. ``I'm able to get into the flow of the game at that time.''

Wade, who finished with 18 points, nine assists, four steals and four turnovers, said he wasn't sure whether he would start Tuesday against the Timberwolves.

''It worked for me,'' said Wade, who scored all of the Heat's bench points. ``I just have to see how I feel next game, see how I feel [Monday] in practice and the next day.''

    BACKCOURT REUNION

Rookie guards Daequan Cook and Mike Conley had a reunion of sorts Sunday, facing one another for the first time since their battles in practice as Ohio State teammates.

Cook started at shooting guard for the Heat and finished with nine points, five rebounds and two assists. Conley started at point guard for the Grizzlies and closed with 11 points, seven assists and five rebounds.

''We've talked about this and have looked forward to this since college,'' Cook said. ``Our games have gotten a lot better since then.''

Said Conley: ``It was fun. I couldn't help but to talk trash to him.''

    OFF HIS GAME

Riley said point guard Jason Williams, who missed five consecutive games with a sprained left knee, was rusty. Williams missed his only shot -- a three-point attempt -- in his first game since Christmas.

''He hasn't even shot the ball,'' Riley said. ``We need some support. He needed to come in and try hard. He's off his game.''</div>

... hmm bench-max player. Hardly a formula for success.

I nabbed him in our fantasy game.
