Realistic the nets can not match up with these teams. Boston and Pistons are playing on a whole nother level. A level the Nets only read about when speaking of contenders. Boston has come into this season with a chip on their shoulder and goal to accomplish. You see that passion when they play. Boone and Williams are okay but against the likes of Sheed Dice Garnett and even Max they can't keep up. People can believe what they want as they said before the season started but the ECF will be between the two best teams Pistons and Celtics. The Nets need a lil more to play with the big boys.

not cool. I guess he wasn't his homeboy afterall. anyway, the ONLY way we have a chance against Boston would be to get one, MAYBE 2 of their big 3 in foul trouble early, and NOT fall into double digits in the first half. That's the only way I can see us winning one of those games.

I don't really think the Nets can beat them. The Celtics are on a completely different level than the Nets are. They'd need to find a way to slow down at least part of the big three, and even when that happens the other two pick up the slack for them or the role players contribute more. They'd have to find a way to score as well. And quite frankly, no team has been able to do that. The Celtics are a committed defensive team and it shows it. They lock down the paint better than any team out there, and seeing as how the Nets, aside from a couple exceptions, are a bad jump shooting team, that doesn't really bode well for them. In reality, I think they could gameplan for the Celtics as much as they want, but in the end, the Celtics are too good and the Nets just aren't good enough.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Dumpy)</div><div class='quotemain'>--They've had NO injuries to speak of. Their top eight players have missed a total of 11 games. They have basically four guys: Garnett, Perkins, Glen Davis, and Scalabrine. What if Perkins breaks down and Glen Davis wears down from the long season? There'd be a nick in their armor.</div> Well, let's revisit this. Celtics, without Ray Allen or Glen Davis. Injuries. Loss against Bobcats. Hmm...

Anyway, it's vital that the Nets get the #4 or #5 seed, and hopefully won't face Cleveland.</div> I think we're in a vastly better position to beat Cleveland this year than we were last year, especially if Krstic ends up coming back. The biggest issue was our weak frontcourt, but the Boone-Williams tandem is not only a pretty decent match-up against Z-Gooden, but they also will be able to consistently beat them down the court. Also, I tend to think RJ plays LeBron better than pretty much anyone else in the league. He's just got the right body type for it. </div> yes, I can't disagree with you . . . I just think that Cleveland is a HUGE wildcard and could beat anyone if they (i.e., LBJ) have a good week. Same with Washington, if Arenas comes back and regains his old level of play. I think with the development of Boone and Sean Williams, though, the Nets would now have the advantage over Washington. Toronto, Atlanta, Indiana, Chicago are all better matchups, I think, because they don't have a guy who is likely to score 40 every night in a seven-game series. A lot can happen between now and then, though.

I never estimated the PROBABILITY that the Nets could beat those teams, which the way things stand today is clearly less than 50%. But we're not playing a seven game series today--that would be four months from now. Anything can happen bettween now and then--injuries, trades, suspensions, flubber, murder.
Didn't the Nets start 7-2 at a point once they went to the Violent Bros. line up? I haven't seen an updated record since then, but we definitely have started to turn this ship around, and have ended the obligatory slow start (knock on wood). If we keep with this lineup and build chemistry and then hopefully consistency with player expectations and roles...well I guess we'll get a first taste tomorrow!
