<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Kobe Bryant isn't going anywhere and never was. He hates to admit it, but he's better off, and the talk is the Los Angeles Lakers are looking hard to move Kwame Brown's expiring contract for another piece and make a serious championship run.</div> Source: Chicago Tribune I think it's going to take more than Kwame's expiring contract to get us the missing piece for a championship run. If we trade Kwame we won't have a viable backup center and if we trade him for a backup center it's a lateral move. If they do trade Kwame + fillers I hope they get a superstar back.
Why can't we do something like this? http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trad...p;te=&cash= The Jazz have to be looking to move AK47 (or at least open to the idea), and Kwame's $9m would make them a major player this summer. The Lakers would get a game-changing player who can play three positions, and he just might need a change of scenery to be the Kirilenko of old. And Luke's ankle makes me awfully uncomfortable. That's an injury waiting to happen.

The Lakers would be short $4.5M and would have to include another player to match salaries. AK47 is making $13.7M and his deal extends into 2010/11 where he'll be making $17.8M. If the Lakers make this trade they might not have enough to keep Ariza and/or Turiaf. I'm not sure if AK is worth all of that.

If he can recover than absolutely we need to make a run at him. However, I think the Kings are still going to evaluate their situation since they haven't had a healthy roster all season. They probably want to see if Bibby-Martin-Artest can make a late season push before they do anything drastic. Jan 6 Artest (elbow) will not be cleared to begin shooting or dribbling until the middle of January at the earliest, the Sacramento Bee reports. Recommendation: The small forward had surgery to remove bone chips in his right elbow last Wednesday and is expected to miss three to four weeks.
