Sam answered his mail last night and had this perplexing bit of info:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I'm still for Gasol, though I hear the Grizzlies have talked with a number of teams. The hangup with the Bulls appears to be the Grizzlies' interest in Andres Nocioni. I'm not fully sure why, probably less for Nocioni's ability than for what he does for them. But with his base-year status, it may be too difficult to find the right pieces for a deal.</div>

How is that a hangup? If they like Noc, get a freaking deal done!
And no, his BYC status shouldn't matter much. The following are all trades that work:

    Noc, Smith, Thomas for Gasol
Noc, Duhon, Khyrapa, Duhon for Gasol
Noc + Most any combination of Bulls you can think that gets to about $6.7M for Gasol

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The assumption is the Bulls won't include Deng, whom they wouldn't put in a deal last year. Memphis probably wouldn't want Hinrich, because they have point guards. And they might not want Gordon, because he's up for a contract and they'd have to pay him. So I'd probably ask for some combination of Noah, whom they liked in the draft before taking Conley, Sefolosha, Duhon, Nocioni and a No. 1 pick, though I'm not sure it's doable. If I were Memphis, I'd probably want them to take a bad contract off my hands, which make it even harder to match salaries.</div>

Is his suggestion. Sounds doable to me, though I don't know that I'd include Thabo and Duhon. We'll be getting thin at the "guard" positions that way. I don't see why either of those guys would be a deal breaker though

Personally, I'd like to keep Noah because in the long run I think he's the better player and complement to Gasol. I like the idea of having a young, athletic and high energy Ben Wallace replacement. Wallace/Gasol and Noah/Smith form two really well matched combos of players. And we resolve the logjam.

I think I'd do the trade either way (with Thomas), but I'd offer them the inducement of taking back Stoudemire's contract to get them to settle for Tyrus.

I think a fair deal might be something on the order of:
Gasol, Stoudemire, Andre Brown and Casey Jacobsen
    for
Thomas, Nocioni, 1st Rounder, Duhon, Khyrapa, Griffin

The Grizz may well prefer Noah, but trading out Damon (next year he's under contract) and getting back Duhon would provide more savings for them.

And for us, it gets us a more offensive-minded stopgap PG.

If I'm the Grizz I want Noah as a principle . I just can't see that they would have any interest in Tyrus Thomas with Swift and Warrick on the roster

I would do Noah and Nocioni for Gasol

I don't see anyone above as a deal breaker to acquire Gasol ... including Luol Deng. This is the Bulls second chance at landing a legit inside presence.

Maybe this is a case of too little, too late?

The big question is whether such a deal is going to put us on par with Detroit and Boston and give us a chance to go to the ECF and hopefully beyond.

The next question is what is our situation after such a deal if it's not enough?

    Run , Run , Run ....bah !

The non trade of Pau Gasol is pissing me off like no tomorrow

We've committed this money to Ben Wallace and we're in a situation where we have to kiss his ass to make sure the emotional pygmie doesn't get his feelings hurt. So - we're stuck with him

Forget about "we're going to build with Kirk"

We may as well build with Ben Wallace

He doesn't want to run . He's older , believes he's a superstar , and wants to pace out the season.

He didn't want to do the Dougie Neydermyer "drop and give me 20" routine in 3 hour practices of Herr Skiles

Seems as though Luey and Duey (not sure about Huey ) didn't want to either

To slightly digress I find great offense in Ben Wallace's nickname of "Body"

There is only one "Body" and that's Elle McPherson

    Enough said

    Anyhow....

    BenjiLove doesn't want to run

Pau is a half court player

Kirk is better off the ball as a Hornacek type

Du ain't up to snuff as a starter

Andre Miller is likely available as Philly wants to shed salary with Igoudala's extension and other free agent additions

Ben doesn't want to be a 6th man

Daequan Cook is somewhere between Allan Houston and Michael Redd and just may have the quickest release with beasutiful form ( Houston ) and the fearlessness of his fellow alumni , Michael Redd . He's a 22ppg to 24ppg scorer waiting to happen . Stand's out like Dogs Balls. And a Bull Mastif's set - not a insect Welsh Terrier type pussy dog. Oh ..and he's 6'5.

    Join the dots

Back to Pau ...it ain't late . In fact ...his value , in my opinion, is more diminished than what it was this time last year

If the Grizzer want Nocioni...and one of our young bigs - beautiful. That's a deal you got to do

I actually would be prepared to give up Deng as a principal with filler and hold on to Noah and Thomas ( who I don't believe they Grizz would want )

    Let's say ....

Gasol and Jacobsen ( Pike's mini me ) could be acquired for Nocioni and Noah

Andre Miller for Duhon, Khyrapa ,Smush Parker

Daequan Cook and Smush Parker and a 2008 first round pick from Miami ( top 3 protected ) for Ben Gordon

And we actually bucked the trend of having to play in a faster up tempo offense which satisfied our players

    Wallace
    Gasol
    Deng
    Hinrich
    Miller

    <u>bench</u>

    Gray
    Smith
    Thomas
    Sefolosha
    Jacobsen
    Livingston ( D League call up )

    ???

    Didn't really answer the question.

If we did all that last season, we may have gone ECF or beyond.

This season? Does your team above really beat Detroit and/or Boston come playoff time?

Where does that leave us next season?

Ok . To answer your question ..yes that team beats Detroit and does beat Boston IMO

Its embarassing that in the East the Pistons have everyone spooked into thinking that they're the real thing . They are a good vet team but they are not anything special . Miller can hold Billups ..Hinrich can stick Hamilton , Deng is better than Prince , Gasol is more than Rasheed, Wallace balances out McDyess and we have greater skill and energy with Thomas over Maxiel etc and we still have Gray and Joe Smith ... We would absolutely spank the Pistons . We can do it now with our current line up as flawed as what it is

Boston has more individual talent but they have to ride their ageing big 3 through a grueling 82 game season and they have f'all depth. Boston will make a run this year and maybe next but after that its a case of stick a fork in them they are done

In any case I think a rotation of Wallace, Gasol, Deng, Hinrich and Miller supported by Smith, Thomas, Sefolosha , Gray and Jacobsen

    beats

Garnett, Pierce and Allen supported by Perkins, Rondo , Posey, Allen and ....and ......and ...... oh yeah Scalabrine, House and Bad Boy Bubby

The reality is in Boston's 2nd tier only Posey is a proven genuine big gamer in a playoff rotation whereas Rondo is a great fit with the big 3 but is still a system player who has genuine limitations . Tony Allen should stick to punk azzed wanna be gangsta crime. He's ain't much of a gamer.

The 3rd tier ? Man Boobs Scalabrine, BBB , and House ? F'wawkkkkk! Eddie House shoots up more than Ginger Baker in his prime

During the Laker game last night in Memphis, Gasol was booed every time he touched the ball. Apparently his comments in the summer about demanding a trade have resulted in a backlash from the fans. They even booed him when he scored 31 points in one of their recent games.

    The fans want him gone.
