I couldn't find the old thread about this topic so I made a new one. http://wesleytech.com/warner-drops-hd-dvd/482/ Another big victory for Blue Ray. Warner's dropped HD-DVD and is now Blue Ray exclusive. Beginning of the end for HD-DVD?

HD DVD is going to fall very soon. The studios are moving Blu Ray's way as are the sales. Blu Ray discs are currently selling at a 3 to 1 ratio compared to HD DVD's. In a year or two when the prices drop to $100 or so on the low end Blu Ray players, HD DVD would be forced to bow out. I'd suggest keeping your HD DVD player though, Denny, as the prices on the movies would drop like hell when the format is discontinued.

I remember when DVD's first came out the prices of Video were ridiculously cheap.

Until then, fucc it!</div> Amazon usually has great sales. Last week they had buy one get one (everyone bought the Harry Potter series, it was selling as the top 4 spots on Amazon under the DVD section). This week it's all BD's from 15 to 20 dollars. The Spiderman Trilogy is 43 bucks. All in all, I just want one format. Even this DVD +/-R crap is annoying me.
You can get a combo drive for your PC for around 120 on sale. If you are willing to play your movies through your computer, that is the best bet. -Petey

It is pretty much over. I ended up getting a PS3. For months, I was thinking I should stop buying regular DVDs and invest in the HD format ones. However, I've changed that line of thinking where I'll buy most anything on regular DVD and spend the extra money on the HD version of only a select few (something like Spiderman or X-Men or The Matrix). The regular format plays quite nicely on HD gear, and you can get the movies for $7 up to $20. For the price of two regular DVDs you can get one on HD format.

Buyout what you can on the cheaper formats. If you really enjoy the movie, you can buy it later at the price drop. -Petey
I've always wondered what's the difference between the two. Other than the possibility of playing DVD's in HD and the loads of memory for extra content, what are the other differences between standard DVD's and HD-DVD/Blu Ray discs?
