Courtesy of NetsDaily: <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Byron Scott’s Hornets got hammered last night by the Lakers, but his coaching ability is no longer questioned. Not so in New Jersey. When he was fired in 2004, he tells Adrian Wojnarowski he knew the long knives were out to get him, knew what his assistants and players were plotting. He also admits he made mistakes while in New Jersey, which he claims he corrected in New Orleans.</div> Scott no longer blinded by Hollywood lights - Adrian Wojnarowski - Yahoo! Sports Wow, that's pretty wild. The assistants were out to get him too?
It didn't work out; get over it already! He has a nice job in NO, so what sense does it make to bring up the past? Absolutely none.
I think he just used his NJ stint as an example of why he asked Shinn for the authority to select his own assistant coaches.
Byron Scott > Lawrence Frank. I want Scott to eventually coach the Lakers one day! But I do agree, he needs to get over it. He's in a much better position now.
BYRON IS STILL A BETTER COACH THAN FRANK. I DONT THINK KIDD LIKES COACHES THAT WILL GET IN YOUR FACE AND TELL YOU THINGS YOU ARE DOING WRONG. YOU SEE HIM AND SKILES HAD PROBLEMS. FRANK DOESNT HAVE THE PLAYERS RESPECT, THEY JUST LIKE HIM AND HE IS LUCKY FOR THAT. SCOTT HAS A NOT VERY TALENTED TEAM PLAYING HUNGRY IN N.O!

He was absolutely terrible...I remember people saying after games "Well, despite Byron's best efforts, the Nets won that game!" And I don't know how he can blame his assistants - he had some of the best assistant coaches in the league - one former NBA finals coach (Brian Hill), and two who went on to be successful coaches of their own teams (Eddie Jordan and Lawrence Frank). IIRC, the generally accepted story behind Scott's "success" is that he delegated the offense to Jordan, the defense to Frank, while he was just "game manager" I haven't been following N.O. closely, but New Orleans has more younger talent than the Nets, but somehow the Nets are perennial in the playoffs while Byron has never reached the playoffs with the Hornets. In fact, last year, all his 3 assistants were in the playoffs! Hmm... Byron's must have done something amazing in a past life, because his whole career, playing and coaching, he's been blessed with stellar point guards like Magic, Kidd, and Paul.

Chris Paul is playing at an even higher level than before and Nets fans know what a top flight PG can do for a team. Peja and Mo Pete provide competent starting wings. The Hornets play team defense like Frank use to be able to get out of the Nets. The on paper talent level is fine.

I have been impressed with the team defense Scott has gotten the Hornets to play this season.
