Observations from tonight's game... 1) We have no bench. Boki Nachbar is are only consistent player on the bench. He is the most consistent of the bunch offensively and is also a solid defender. While Antione Wright is a good defender he is also an offensive liabitly...his spot should be taken by a shooter. Typical Antione Wright possession is this: Pass to Wright beyond the three point line...gives up the open shot, drives, and either takes poor shot or makes wild pass. Jason Collins and Darrell Armstrong are overrated defenders...and huge offensively liabilities. Marcus Williams is yet to get a shot since coming back (likely won't unless injury) and Magliore is being screwed (my opinion) 2) Vince and RJ don't mesh...I'm back onto this theory because honeslty Vince plays more like a small forward not a shooting guard. Wonder why Pierce and Allen play so well together? Because Pierce slashes and shoots mostly midrange, Allen hits the threeball and midrange and doesnt drive to the hoop primarily. 3) We cannot score against a zone...why? Because the Nets management has neglected to bring shooters to this team. Honestly unless Vince, RJ, or Boki is hot they are horribly inconsistent from long range...same goes for Kidd. We need to bring in somebody who is a three ball scoring machine...doesnt have to be a star could be a steve kerr type player but it's necessary. 4) If Josh Boone can learn to hit 60% at the FT line he could be an allstar. Im serious. He's only a second year player but as his confidence grows so will his ability. Look at tonight 14 points, 16 rebounds (8 offensive), 4 blocks and 2 assists. Played great defense on Garnett...every shot was contested well. Say he hit even half his free throws...we'd be looking at 17 and 16. 5) Lawrence Frank SUCKS. Yeah I'm sorry I know the bench sucks, but he makes it worse. He chooses not to play Magliore and instead opts for two career losers in Collins and Allen. He also chooses to sit Marcus instead of giving him playing time to develop like Boone and Swat have. I'm sorry but the NBA should have a height requirement for coaches...if he can't ride a rollercoaster how can he coach this team? I'm tired of this midget.
I concur with all those points. Bench is terrible. The 48 point game vs. Orlando was a bit of a fluke. The Allen and Collins combo never works, Armstrong had a nice couple of games, but he's not a threat to score. And when Boki can't hit wide open 3s, he loses confidence and passes up shots. Or he chucks relentlessly and goes 2 for 14. Frank blows, we all know this by now.

The big 3 make 45 mill, add in Jason Collins and Magloire, and they are at 55 mill. (which is the cap) Sean Williams and Boone are doing great. Boki is worth his 2.5 mill. Armstrong is worth his 1 mill, Allen his 1 mill, Marcus his 1 mill (especially when healthy), and so forth.
I think our bench is good. The only thing we could possibly complain about is that we don't have a great 3 pt shooter. Boki needs to get more consistent, but if he can get to how he was playing last year, we won't need anyone else. Either Sean or Boone will eventually be on the bench when Krstic gets back to normal. Sean/Boone, Boki, Wright, Armstrong/MWill, Allen, and Armstrong is a very solid bench. Why all the Allen hate? Yes, he shouldn't be on the floor when Collins is there, and he probably should have his butt glued to the bench when Krstic gets back, but the dude knocks down open jump shots. Most of our team likes to brick open jump shots. So what's with all the hate? Yes, his defense leaves a lot to be desired, but the dude plays hard.

Malik Allen has played a bench role for two playoff teams, and Jason Collins was an integral part of a Nets team that went to two NBA finals and almost beat the eventually NBA champion Detroit Pistons. That's certainly a more impressive resume than Magloire, who's never been out of the second round.

His averages have gone done ever since and the Nets is his 4th team in the last few years. Rod Thorn was expecting a Mikki Moore effect but it didn't happen.
Malik Allen shouldn't have been playing big minutes. But that's what they had to work with. He did make some plays early on but in the end he just did not belong playing more than 10 minutes for this team.

When you start a season with four frontcourt players and then lose two of them you give the other two big minutes.

There's also a big difference between Mikki and Magloire. Mikki is quick while Magloire is slow; Mikki can catch and pass the ball, Magloire can't; Mikki can hit jumpers, Magloire can't; Mikki has the fighting spirit, Magloire is very sporadic with that. If I were coach, I wouldn't play Magloire either. He stagnates the offense and isn't really a good defender as he plays good D very sporadically. It's so funny on how some fans rave on his D on one isolated play. The game has changed, it has become faster, and sad to say Magloire is one of its victims.
maglores d cannot be any worse then collins. he also rebounds well. god, wtf does the midget see in the tree trunk? i'd rather have a pregnany lisa leslie over collins
