I hope so, because I never want to see Kwame at the line when he's our chance at winning ever again. I think he's the only player in the league who could miss a two handed dunk.
The Lakers only have 14 players on the roster which makes it easier to call a player up or sign a free agent to a 10 day contract. You can sign a player to two consecutive 10 day contracts before you have to guarantee them for a season. Here's the current players who were on our DLeague team: LOS ANGELES OR DR REB Avg. Another option could be Elton Brown who played for the team in pre-season. I remember Tex Winters saying he plays the way Kwame should be playing. Brown finished around the rim and was very physical on both ends of the court. He averaged 18/9 in the DLeague last season. This year he's averaging 20/10 for Colorado 14ers. <a href="http://www.nba.com/dleague/playerfile/index.jsp?player=sl_elton_brown" target="_blank"> Elton Brown DLeague Stats</a>
If Bynum is down for a week or so, I'd like to bring in a player. I really don't like the idea of Kwame logging major minutes and Turiaf his backup.
I don't either bro. It ruins the chemistry for both units and watching Kwame out there he doesn't look like he's in shape yet. He just came back from injury himself and I'm sure he's not 100% yet. The good news is we only have two more games this week and then the team is off until Monday. Seattle is a team we should beat and we can get away with a small lineup against Phoenix on Thursday. If the team signs a player to a 10 day contract the best time to do it would be Monday the 21st. The team would have that player available for 5 games during those 10 days.
I'm hoping, like you, that Bynum was just scared shitless and over-reacted to the injury. I'm hoping at most, 2-3 games...but I can settle for 2 weeks. I hope Kobe lights Phoenix!
He said he didn't hear any pops, which is GREAT news. I'm hoping it's just a sprain, but the Lakers should take all the necessary precautions and not rush him back. A dirty bastard player like Bruce Bowen would be the first to slip his foot under Bynum to test his knee.

Sean Banks is a pretty good prospect, apparently he has been doing great in the D-League. I really like Stephane Lasme though, I had absolutely no idea he was on the roster. I wanted this guy with one of our second round picks last draft. The guy is just a shot blocking machine Anyways, any word on Andrew? When's he getting the MRI?
The MRI is scheduled for later today. Bynum doesn't think it's serious, but he did say there's a pain when he bends the knee. I'm certainly hoping for the best. It's good he's still young which should help him recover faster.
Apparently the MRI was taken at 10 today, so it should be finished. We're just waiting for the report I guess. I have nothing else to do, so I've been waiting for this the whole day. lol
Got this from Gumbygld on Clublakers <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>OK SO HERE IS THE DEAL I cant tell you exactly what it is until the lakers make their press release. But... Not career ending not season ending. He will be out 4-8 week and NO LIGAMENT damage or surgery needed. Hope that helps</div> If this is true, then it's a relief. 4 to 8 weeks is still a long period of time, but at least it's not horrible. Hopefully he will heal up quicker and come back in 4 weeks. This isn't official, so take it for what it's worth
Also, Gumbygld reported that there's no cartilage damage either. Apparently Gumbygld is a trusted member and has connections with the organization. I believe him!
Damn 4 to 8 weeks? I'm glad there's no damage and it's not season or career ending, but 4 to 8 weeks is a significant amount of time. What a jacked up setback in our season!
Well, look at it this way Shape. At 100%, does any team in the west really scare you? San Antonio is the only team that scares me, because they always turn it up another notch come post season. As long as we make the playoffs (and don't end up with San Antonio), I think we'll be alright. We have shown that we can take care of Phoenix, and Dallas has never scared me. All the other teams: Denver, New Orleans, Portland, Golden State, we can take them all in a 7 game series. I just want Bynum to come back at 100%, even if that means taking a full 8 weeks.
I had an injury just like this my last basketball season, I think. I tried to draw a charge, and my teammate was helping me up after the fact, then I tried to run and I put A LOT of weight on my knee, and all of a sudden like right next to the patella it hurt like a BITCH! It was hurting for a good 3 months, but the best thing you can do is take an Advil and ice it. I say a week or two and he should be fine if he has the same thing that I did. Something with the MCL.
ESPN is reporting 8 weeks... That's a long fu*king time. We pretty much need to sign another big body right?
