Bosh, Bryant Players Of The Week

Bosh led Toronto to a 3-0 week, averaging 33.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per contest. Bosh shot .552 from the field and .806 from the foul line for the week. After divisional wins over the 76ers and Knicks, Bosh capped Toronto’s undefeated week with a 38-point, 14-rebound performance against the streaking Portland Trail Blazers. At 20-17, the Raptors own the second best record in the Atlantic Division and the fourth best record in the Eastern Conference.

Bryant helped the Lakers to a 4-0 week, which included wins over the Hornets, Bucks and the Grizzlies twice. Bryant averaged 29.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 3.5 steals on the week. Closing the week with back-to-back 37-point performances, Bryant upped his season average to 27.0 ppg, second best in the NBA to LeBron James’ 29.1 ppg. The Lakers are riding a six-game winning streak and at 25-11, they own the second best record in the Pacific Division and the third best record in the Western Conference.

Chris Bosh, Toronto Raptors
Jan. 9 vs. Philadelphia: Scored 21 points and added three blocks and three assists in a 109-96 win over the 76ers.
Jan. 11 at New York: Poured in 40 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Raptors beat the Knicks 99-90.
Jan. 13 vs. Portland: Posted a 38-point, 14-rebound effort in a 116-109 double-overtime victory against the Trail Blazers.

Kobe Bryant, L.A. Lakers
Jan. 8 @ Memphis: Scored 25 points and added three rebounds, six assists and five steals in a 117-101 victory over the Grizzlies.
Jan. 9 @ New Orleans: Posted 19 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals in the Lakers’ 109-80 win over the Hornets.
Jan. 11 vs. Milwaukee: Tallied 37 points, five rebounds and seven assists as the Lakers topped the Bucks 110-105.
Jan. 13 vs. Memphis: Scored 37 points for the second game in a row, connecting on 14-of-15 free throws and added four steals in a 100-99 win over the Grizzlies.

Congrats to Bosh. Those first two games were good, but against pretty weak competition. His performance against the Blazers was damn impressive (especially in the 2nd overtime).

 

I was thinking about players of the week this morning and I wanted Bosh to win it. What we saw from Bosh, this week was simply amazing. While he isn't scoring 50+, he is shooting a good percentage and making his shots. I know this is far fetched, but I would loved Bosh to score 30 each game, which I think he is capable of.

Yeah... 30 points would be nice, but this team is designed so that we don't have to depend on one player to win...and that's why it's so hard to beat us! Well it's supposed to be anyway lol

Let's make it player of the month is right. It looks like our boy is just warming up too.

 

I think all his nagging injuries are gone (for the time being) and is playing at the level he is capable at, he has been a little inconsistent this season but he has brought his game to a new level this season. His mid range shots may not be falling as often this season and his FG% is down but he just gives 110% every time hes on the court.

 

I don't know if anyone else picked this up, but one thing that annoyed me about Bosh against Portland was that he never boxed out. He relied solely on his athletic ability, but that also allowed his man to grab a lot of offensive boards when the ball bounced long or away from Bosh. Even Bargnani was boxing out better than him and he's still a pretty poor rebounder. I know that's a downer and everything, but its something that I think he needs to work on still.

thats huge problem he has, remember that varejao dunk last year, a huge reason that happened was because bosh didnt box him out
