poorly constructed team

not a good roster. who, outside of VC, can create his own shot consistently? do we have a big who can score in the post? sorry, ppl wo love this team, hate this team, whatever your feelings are, this team isn't winning anything. We thought 05-06 was the beginning of a new Big Three era when really, it was there last year as a good unit. How is it that we were better with vaughn and Smokey the Bear as to Boki, Wright etc...?

I can see Sean with the ability to score in the paint...maybe a year from now. Right now? That was supposed to be Magloire :-(

EDIT: actually thats kind of the story isn't it? Antoine was supposed to offer bench scoring, boki was supposed to be our 3pt threat, and Magloire was supposed to be our post scorer. Krstic...Krstic...was supposed to play, Marcus was supposed to give Kidd a break and be his protege...right now this is a team of failed expectations.

kidd stopped caring about winning once they traded Kmart and Kittles, his best friends. he was happy for a while when they traded for VC but he;s learned that you cant win with VC. its all about the paper with him now, VC got paid so he doesnt care.

I get that alot lol lol but seriously I never thought the Nets were contenders even during the two 14 streak wins.

I never thought for a second the way this team is made up is enough to win.

Not bagging on our players but they don't have it in them and they are not better or even on the level of a Pistons team.

Maybe I see things to black and white.

This team is okay for what it worth but people expecting games in june or late may should but that Tivo down.

I only hang onto Sean, Wright, Boone and Marcus and I've slowly let go of Marcus and Wright since they aren't doing anything.

We should draft Hasheem Thabeet so we don't have to worry about scoring since nobody will ever score downlow on us between him and Sean.

Now I understand what Kidd meant at the start of the season. The team has made quite a habit of "mentally letting go of the rope." ANd they can't break it. It really hurts a fan to watch his team give up: the lack of effort, shrugging shoulders, hesitant moves. It's watching something you once looked up to collapse right in front of you.

Carter is not the problem that's hurting this team right now and his contract is not some albtross you're making it out to be. Him and RJ make almost the same this season. It's still the front court and shooting that needs to be addressed. They have 10 million invested in Magloire and Collins who contribute little to nothing. And for some reason Thorn came into this season with Nachbar as the only shooting threat off the bench.

Not thing big...we send them Darrell Armstrong and vince get Jason Williams to backup (expiring contract), Alonzo's expiring contract, Dorell Wright and Daquen Cook. Miami may also include a lottery protected first...Pairing Carter with Wade, Shaq and Davis might actually turn there season around. Personally if I was Riley I would just tank and take my top 5 pick but apparently there going after Bibby so they must be interested in making a run this year.

And some nights, Carter can't create his own shot. He used to be able to break guys down and dunk.What happened to that skill? It's gone, he gets by on jumpers and craftiness now. and yet the Nets signed him for the next however many years. They shoulda let him walk or signed and traded his ass while his value was still high.

I also miss Kittles often. He was my favorite Net. And he could hit an open jumper, unlike 11 of the current Nets. Remember having a fast 2 guard who actually liked to run the floor and ran like a gazelle?

carter gets heat because of the money he is getting, the talent he has and how he performs. he is our star, our main offensive weapon, yet doesnt measure up to the other stars in the league (or even to himself when he first arrived here).

when our team cant get anything going offensively, that is when a guy like vince is supposed to step up on a rather consistent basis and either keep us in the game or just take control of the game for a bit until everyone else gets going. im not blaming this season on vince, its just that vince leaves sooo much to be desired. now when vince has it, vince is great. the problem is that vince doesnt have it that much anymore.

the guy cant jump, has no quickness and is not a highlight reel player anymore. vinsanity is dead, but he still can show a flash here and there. if vinsanity is dead, thats fine by me but he just doesnt play how i think he should be playing. maybe thats my fault for having him on another platform than the average star, maybe its his fault, or maybe its a combination, but vince needs to play up to his standard 9 games out of 10. that is what separated the stars from the role players. i know what he did for us since hes been here and what he has done this year, but he should be doing so much more.

one thing is that when our team is playing well and feeling good, usually everyone plays well. its easy to look good and play well when everyone is just in that zone. its easy to look good while winning, but when losing starts that is when you need people to step up. that is when you find out if a coach can coach, if a player can be a leader and what not. this is when i want vince to step up, this is when i want to see players giving a dam while running offensive sets, this is when i want to see our guys plays like they know how to clog the paint and rattle the opposing. its not just vince, but i think it starts with vince.

vince is the guy, that is the bottom line. he has to play like the guy. kidd can only do so much. he plays boths ends, but just cannot be counted on consistently on the offensive end. that is carter's specialty. if kidd had the touch, the size, the athletic ability that vince has then he would be doing everything he can to carry us or dig us out of the hole. kidd just cant offensively. RJ some days has it, some days doesnt. he has a great approach of getting to the rim, but just doesnt have the offensive package that vince can put together.

i like vince. hes a very likeable guy off the court, but he drives me nuts most games on the court. maybe i've built him up too much. there are games where vince looks like a top 5 player, then other games where it looks like hes going through the motions. if you want to be paid like the guy, and be the guy, then you gotta bring it every single ****ing game. i guess all this .500 bullshit for the last few years if finally getting to me. vince has the ability to pick this clusterfuck of a team up and win games himself, he just doesnt anymore. i guess i am just scared of having him for the next 4 years if this is what we will see. maybe vince needs to be the guy without a #2 like RJ. maybe he wants to feel needed more, idk. its just frustrating because vince as a net was good and is just slowing down before our eyes. it frustrates and scares me.

yup. vince screams more now because he cannot lift off like he used too. vince doesnt elevate over the defenders, he kind of glides into them. i hate how superstars scream like they are being stabbed, then bitch when they dont get a call. i hate that players play to get fouls instead of play to make the basket.

From the day he was traded to the Nets, I knew this day would come. VC and JKidd's skill sets are not a match. Kidd needs constant motion to succeed....check back to our Finals days. When players aren't moving and creating passing lanes, Kidd just becomes a spectator pounding the ball or straddling the 3 point stripe. The has developed bad habits from watching VC just pound the ball, rather than quickly moving the ball to the open man. VC has to depend on his 1-1 game or pick and roll game, it basically shuts 3-4 teammates out of the action, when that happens, they start to develop lazy habits, now mix that in with losing, the team just goes through the motions. How the hell does a team like Toronto beat Portland? Pound the rock into the paint....they have Chris Bosh, when they need a bucket, a bucket from 5 feet is easier than one from 25. They have much more balance to their team, Parker, Kapono, Bosh....a nice inside out game. When you pack the zone in, you take away the Big 3's game of attacking the paint.

It seems a lot, and I mean a lot of players do that. Including K-Mart. I think a player who never shouts vs. one who shouts probably gets less calls than the one who does.
