It must be nice to be young, energetic, have a solid low post scorer and consistent three point shootng. I think the Nets had these wonderful attributes at one time in this decade, but those days are long gone. Lucky Portland.

OMG, i was thinking the same thing a while ago. look at portland, they dont even have oden and fernandez yet and look how wonderful they are turning out to be and there future is so goddamn bright. i wish we had a fun little team like that, full of young, hungry guys who can develop together...instead, we have 30 year old vets who will not contribute to this team ever, DA, Malik, Magloire.

I said this a couple of years ago and I got blasted for it but Rod Thorn is an overrated GM

    Portland is not lucky.

This team destroyed their current team. Traded their leading scorer and went at the risk of going young.

Then before the season starts they lose their Franchise player for the whole season. Then they come out the gate losing but they bounce back.

Luck has nothing to do with it. It's their will to win and attitude. Also their coach leading them.

Too bad a young team is showing more heart than a team with two all stars and has been to the finals twice and the playoffs since 2002.

theyve been taking risks for a while but ever since they traded for Roy, which was a lucky move, theyve been on the rise. now, look at there future. they could be a Finals team right now, imagine once they get oden and rudy? crazy depth

I agree. It's never been about luck or unluck. This team really fights. Imagine going through double overtime on the road against the Raptors and still having the fortitude to crush us. Portland has my respect.

They will be one of the best teams in the league for the forseeable future.

How can you say Malik doesn't contribute when he was the star of the game, for the nets anyway.

Trade our big three for LeBron James and sign Sun Ming Ming and Rod Benson and we are set.

Blazers are proof that if you get lottery picks for about 7 years in a row, sooner or later you will be good. And they made a great trade and fleeced the Bulls.

Atlanta's had a lot of lotto picks, too. They're not doing too badly, either.

would be fun having a team like that going into brooklyn. doesnt have that main attraction, but it would be nice for pure basketball fans. must be fun being a portland fan right now.

how nice it must be to actually have a coach that gets something out of his team.

the nets are a better team than the blazers, its our coach that sucks!

They actually have only had their pick and drafted in the lottery 6 times in the last 22 years.

    '86 Walter Barry (14)
    '95 Shawn Respert (8)
    '04 Sebastian Telfair (13)
    '05 Martell Webster (6)
'06 LaMarcus Aldridge (picked 2nd by Chicago, traded to Portland for Tyrus Thomas and Viktor Khryapa)
'06 Randy Foye (6 - traded immediately for Brandon Roy)
    '07 Greg Oden (1)

So its been 4 years in a row, but their 4th lottery pick (Oden) has had no impact on this season due to his knee injury.

Imagine how good they would be if they hadn't traded Zach Randolph!

Okay, stand corrected, but 5 lottery picks in 4 years is still a good haul. If you lose 50 games in a row for 3 straight years as the Blazer have, you are bound to have some really good young talent. So, that's all the Nets have to do, just lose big for a couple years, and get a young core for Brooklyn. Maybe they should blow the team up after all.
