I was thinking the exact same thing.

A stupid thought I had: The Pats always won their Superbowls by three points so I always thought they would get stuck on 3 Superbowl victories. And now the Giants are the 2001-Patriotlike-Underdogs like BasX mentioned. I know it's silly but, whatever, I feel like padding my post count, hah.

I actually have a theory about Eli not wanting to play in SD.

    Just a theory, so relax:

Peyton made Indy into a contender, I'm sure the Manning family was cocky and thought Eli could do the same for LT and the Chargers so they wanted to avoid annual SD/Indy matchups in the AFC. It would be a longshot for them both to end up in the Superbowl, and they could avoid that whole uncomfortable Manning vs Manning situation. Plus the NFC is pathetic.
    </div>
What I've heard is that the Manning family had a close friend/contact in the Chargers front office who basically told them that he wouldn't send his son to that football team. I'm assuming he was referring to the owner and dysfunctional front office. So they decided to intervene and make sure he went to an organization they had faith in.

I won't defend it and I can understand people not being able to forgive him for it. But I think people need to put it in proper context: a) this was more Eli's family than Eli himself and [IMG] rookies have always had a ridiculous amount of leverage coming out of the draft (this isn't exactly unprecedented).

Regardless, the dude has shut his critics up and I couldn't be happier. I always saw his potential, especially in those incredible comeback wins over the years. And even though I began to waver towards the end of the season, I'm glad he's done what its taken to put this team on the next level. He's played amazing passing defenses in Tampa, Dallas, and Green Bay and has yet to throw an interception. That's simply awesome.

Oh for sure he's got talent, but dude...I don't know, I can't just let go of how Archie had him shun San Diego like that. He was a rookie coming into the league, he should've been happy just to be in that position, who cares where he goes? Anyways, I wish you Giant fans the best of luck, my mom is going to kill me when she finds out that I want the Patriots to just finish of their 19-0 season so they can go 0-16 next year :-)!

    Good Luck G-men!

I don't blame you. You can spin it any way you want, but it was still a douche move on the Manning family. But whatever, I don't hold it as much against Eli given those two points. I'm happy he's finally got it all together. People gave this kid so much shit in such an unreasonable fashion.

Chutney, you better hope you guys beat the Pats in the Superbowl. Or else the Superbowl runner up curse will strike the Giants. As an Eagles fan, trust me, it's real [IMG]

lol, the really crazy thing about this Super Bowl run is that the '07 Giants came into this season starting a rebuilding project. The new GM (Jerry Reese) thought the team was too old, undisciplined, and overpaid, and with Tiki's departure, felt it was time to build around Eli for once. He shed big contracts (Petitgout, Arrington) really didn't bring in anyone through free agency (Droughns was our biggest acquisition), had a no-nonsense approach with Strahan's holdout, and handled the offseason with the mentality that we'd kinda suck now but it'd make us a legitimate contender down the road. But his draft was incredible (Aaron Ross, Steve Smith, Kevin Boss, Michael Johnson, Ahmad Bradshaw are all legit contributors), he signed an amazing D-coordinator from Philly (Spagnuolo), and the players we already have stepped up at all the right times (career season for Burress, Umenyiora, Tuck; Jacobs worked as a starter; Strahan's re-emergence; Eli came into his own, etc.) and suddenly we're NFC champs. Now we got cap space coming up, young talent, and a hell of a future after this season. Can you imagine this team in a few years when Reese has a chance to rebuild the secondary?

Hey the Eagles have a lot of good young talent on defense too.

Trent Cole, Mike Patterson, Broderick Bunkley, Omar Gaither, Stewart Bradley, Chris Gocong, and Victor Abrimi [IMG]

But yeah the Giants really surprised me this season. I thought they would suck this year, and I was right at the beginning of the season, but I have absolutely no idea what happened. It seems like Eli Manning has finally gotten out of his shell, and you guys do have a lot of young talent. I like Ahmad Bradshaw, that guy is a beastly runner. When Dallas gets older, it'll be Giants vs Eagles for the NFC East title!

Your secondary isn't the only thing that needs to be rebuilt, imo. I know Steve Smith is a good player, but you guys need a #2 receiver. You guys do have a bright future though! I can't wait to meet you into the Super Bowl in a few years.

Booo burns. Brett you took us here then took it away one game too short. Least if he comes back for another year, we might actually get a RB rather than relying on our pass to open up our run.

    Go Pats!

No...the Patriots are 18-0 son...they aren't the same at all.

And the reason Eli is playing so well is because he isn't taking chances and isn't making "the big play"

He's throwing short, safe passes and is finding holes because of how strong the NYG's running game. so you have safeties cheating up to help stop the run.

Neither. The Pats were playing in 20 MPH winds, which is Brady's kryptonite..

Lmao! I actually laughed pretty good at this witty comment. Eli easily outplayed Brady on Sunday.

The Pats aren't as dominant as earlier in the season so I would still compare them to the 2001 Rams. Even so, nothing is a sure thing, but my coronation of New York shall continue anyway.

BTW, Brady played in some gusts of 20 mph, but he wasn't always against the wind and he has the best receiving core in the game, he was way off.

I am aware of that San Diego Being Chaotic Theory, but I still think my theory could be true because it isn't something the Manning family would want to admit. It seems much less offensive to say San Diego was wack compared to my theory because John Elway already set the precedent for bailing out on on a team with the #1 pick.

ROFL @ Patriot fans who think Brady played better than Eli. Sure, Eli didn't throw any touchdowns, but he didn't throw any interceptions, either. The majority of his throws were on the money and he made the key throws when his team needed him too.

Brady, on the other hand, played terrible IMO. The Chargers just couldn't capitalize on his turnovers. His throws were either too high, ahead of, behind of, or short of the receiver. The only throws that he really put it on the money were the little 6 yard dump passes that the Bolts were allowing the Pats to have.

I didn't say Brady played better than Eli...I'm just saying Eli will never be on Brady's level and it's a joke that Giants fans believe that and the Patriots are gonna make Eli look like shit in the Super Bowl.
