    A change in 5 PER will not allow someone to make accurate comparisons, or support statements about the game of basketball. The "stat" is shaky enough as it is that I don't see distinctive differences able to be made by such a small change.

    PER is a single season statistic, and is per minute adjusted. PER doesn't factor in defense, other than steals.

    Your use of "better player" indicates you're not using PER properly. Touche?

    It measures who is having the best season on a per minute adjusted basis. Not who is the better player.

    When you consider the numbers are per minute adjusted, you'll realize how good Haywood is in few minutes, or Terry, or even Shaq, compared to the others you listed.

    trust me guys you don't want this guy on your team it's Starbury all over again and he would regress Boone and Sean Williams developement what I would do is give Chicago a call Tyrus Thomas is on the block and so is Big Ben it can be done for Wince Harder (Vince Carter) + Mags and I'd look to get what I can for Boki and Nened right now before they becomes a FAs

    It adds credence to the fact that Zach has very good range for a big man. He's by no means a 3-point threat, but can hit them if needed.
    </div>

    If your PG isn't hitting many of them, it helps to have someone else provide some range.
    </div>

    He's hit six 3's on the year.

    This is what I'm talking about. Zach has nothing to do with 3 point shooting.

    WOW he's 6-20 on the year.

    Yi is 6-17 on the year. A sharpshooter!

    Holy crap, Mark Blount is 4-11 from 3, that's shooting beyond the arc at a 36.4% clip. WOW he should be in the 3 point contest!

    David West is 5-15 on the year. He shoots 33% from 3! What a positive!

    Trevor Ariza is 5-16. He shoots better than Zach from 3, because it's a higher percentage!

    Darrell Armstrong is 8-27 on the year, barely a shade below Zach's percentage.

    All these guys shoot such a low number, 3 point shooting should not even be brought up. It's an irrelevant statistic when talking about them.

    steals, blocks, and defensive rebounds are all defensive stats. If you are trying to derive a stat to measure offensive prowess, none of them should be included. What you've done is identified a weakness in PER. So, let's go back to Zach Randolph. If PER doesn't measure a player's entire contribution, how can we be sure that he's better than, say, Jason Collins?
