<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Does Cassell Want Out? With Sam Cassell being 38 and in the final year of his contract, the Clippers might want to move him before the Feb. 21 trade deadline, if they can get anything worth something back for him. Could he contribute elsewhere? "Yeah, I can," Cassell said. "I really can. I'm not asking to be out. That's why David Falk's my agent. As far as right now, I'm here. I'm a Clipper. I'm playing the minutes that they allow me to play. I'm not crying about the minutes I don't play." -- Los Angeles Daily News</div>
Looks like the deal is now unlikely.... <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>While the Clippers have fielded calls on Sam Cassell's availability and talks could increase leading up to the Feb. 21 trade deadline, the chances of Cassell being dealt, as of now, are small. Coach Mike Dunleavy declined to discuss Cassell's status specifically, but did address trade talks heading into the deadline. "You have conversations with all kinds of guys and there are interests in players and you can figure out which guys teams have interest in," he said. "Where there is smoke there is usually a fire. People floating different things out there usually have an interest. That's the way a lot of deals happen. People start throwing things against the wall and hoping it sticks." -- Los Angeles Times The hottest rumor has Cassell headed to Boston. Former NBA player turned correspondent Jon Barry reported on ESPN.com that Cassell could provide insurance in case Celtics starter Rajon Rondo has more back problems. Cassell said trade speculation does not bother him and he has heard things. But he said his agent has not called him about any imminent deals. Cassell said he loves living in Los Angeles, and he is not pursuing a trade. But he realizes the nature of the business. -- Orange County Register</div>
Come to Boston Baby!! be a great back/insurance for Rondo and great teacher and can be clutch at times too. has played with KG and Ray Allen too!
There's no reason for the Clippers to hold onto Cassell. He's going to leave after this season and the Clippers have no chance of making the playoffs. They might as well get something in return for him and get his salary off the books. Boston would be a great fit, but what can they offer in return for Cassell? The Clippers don't want any long term deals and Cassell is pulling down $6M
