He could be a great combo guard off the bench for someone. Lord knows, Nets could use him. Could be a 2nd round steal at least.

But teams get scared by knee issues, for better or worse. Indiana took a chance, told him to take the summer off and rehab. Smart move. But I can find a lot of dumb moves by the Pacers as well over the last six years. It is NEVER just about talent, or Zach Randolph wouldn't have been drafted after Jason Collins. It's about mental attitude, psychological testing, conditioning, injuries, maturity, etc. Boozer and Millsap fell to the second round because of conditioning issues during workouts. Both then went out and lost more than 20 pounds. Good for them, good for the teams that picked them. The Nets would rather take a reasonable chance on a player with character issues--Marcus Williams, Hassan Adams, Sean Williams, or emotional issues--Josh Boone, than a player with physical issues (although they did that with KMart). Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And by the way, there have been reports that the decision in 2005 was between Wright and Gerald Green, not Wright and Granger.

Big, athletic, character guys are at a big premium now. By the time workouts come around, he will be moving up fast. I like this year's draft. It is underrated. Last year's was, as shown by the results, overhyped. Best draft since 1984, when Olajuwon, Jordan, Barkley and Stockton were picked? Spare me. It isn't even as good as the 1996 draft when Bryant, Nash, Iverson, Camby, Allen, O'Neal, Marbury, etc. were taken.

I would like to get F Deron Washington from Virginia Tech with the 2nd round pick. He is a Kidd type of player. Likes running, dunking and plays above average defense. What would it take to get Salim Stoudamire from the Hawks? Dude is exactly what we need. A light out shooter and he is getting no burn in ATL. This kid reminds me of a young Eddie House with more PG skills. The more I think about it, we should draft for frontcourt positions bpa. John Riek seems like a good pick for center if we lose the Devon Hardin lottery. Young, tall and from Sudan. A trade of any of the big 3 would most easily yield the same position, as opposed to trying to get a big for a guard. But we need a shooter for god's sake, so Courtney Lee, Brandon Rush and Bryce Tailor maybe Chase Budinger (bust candidate?)...but Shan Foster is my sleeper pick for now.
