Boki, Amare, Magloire, Kidd, VC Wright, Collins, Allen, DA, Williams off the bench.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Kidd Karma @ Jan 18 2008, 12:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Amare can lead this team to a championship.</div> How is Amare going to lead a team?
I dont get why people think the nets have a shot at a championship even if they trade for a player like Amare, or T-mac. Their "championship window" closed after they got swept in the finals against the lakers. The Nets NEED to trade Kidd, Carter, and RJ for cap space and draft picks and start rebuilding. The only thing that will happen if they wait to do this is Kidd, VC, and RJs values will all go down. Im not saying any of these guys couldn't win a championship on another team, just that this Nets team has done all it can and is going nowhere fast.
The starters are putting up decent numbers for the most part. It's the bench that is horrible. Boki is it. Our main back-up PG (Armstrong), main back-up SG (Wright), and main back-up big (Collins) can't score. If any one of them put up 6 or 7 point it's a huge night and that happens probably once every 15 games.

The way I see it, he fits in a category like Nash. Great player. even better in certain circumstances. Look at Duncan, Shaq, Jordon and the Dream even. As they got older they keep winning with new cast members. That's leading your team to a championship. Having to sign player abc, draft xyz, and trade for 9 others in between, that play to a certain style comes down to being in the right place, at the right time. -Petey
no thanks to Tmac. getting amare would be a dream but not happening. i dont like gasol we dont need a big soft european, we already got one. but id still trade for gasol just to break up the big three, who i am beginning to hate
I'd jump at the Amare deal; it's probably the only one that would make the fan side of me part with Sean. Amare's a kind of guy that can drop 30/10/3(blocks) on a given night, and likes to play for 4 quarters (unlike the Nets who seem to show up for three).
Trading Carter for McGrady does nothing for either team but Carter can actually play for most part of the season (never thought I would say that). The other deals are right on the money. I would prefer the Nets trade Kidd and Carter though, I just want the team to move on.
Amare has an attitude. You win or lose with me, that's what we need here right now. The guy gives us 2 things we don't have, a low post offensive threat, a rebounder and his defense is not horrid. You team him with Magloire, things could get ugly in the paint for opposing slashers. You basically balance out your lineup, now you have a director, a scorer and a post up threat. You mix and match Boki and Wright at the other wing, Magloire would be an adequate starting center alongside Amare, mix in Allen and Collins to the bigs mix. Krstic is still the wild card in all this.
do it thr0n I think that's semi-plausible, and I'd rather trade Vince for Amare than RJ (and Sean) Nets get younger, and and better big than their wing is. Phoenix gets cap relief, and a couple of good young players in Crawford and Lee, and the Nets pick if they want it. The Knicks, well, who the hell knows what they want, and I think they'd give up that package for Vince. We could start running again with a team of Kidd/Wright/Jefferson/Stoudemire/Boone, with Sean, Boki, Marcus and eventually Krstic off the bench, I think that team could be better than the one we went to the finals with. plus, its pretty young too. It won't happen though

Kidd, Jefferson, Boone, Amare, Williams, Boki, Wright, and Marcus all play better on the break. Carter is the only important player on the team who doesn't. (Krstic is arguable) So if we decide to try and win with this team, we should run.

Plus Shaq and Jordan had a #2 that was better than the #2s Kidd has ever had. Take a look at the careers of Wilt and the Big O. How a team is constructed is extremely important.

That is why it is necessary to run, and why running (which you dismiss) is synonomous with winning in this context.
