BTW, I'm sure BF1 made a deal to... insert your own joke here.

To be honest, I can see Strahan's point. I've been a Packer fan for more than 30 years now and I refer to the team as "we," but even I'M sick of people talking about Brett Favre like they know him.

Game commentators and journalists like Peter King all refer to him as "Brett" in their articles and commentaries and it's just kind of annoying.

Don't get me wrong, I love watching Favre play, but I'm not so presumptuous as to thing I'm on a first name basis with the guy.

How awesome would it be if Favre was leading a game-winning drive and then called an audible without telling his line, slipped and Strahan fell on top of him to clinch the game for NY?

But they actually talk to Brett, and have a lot of times over the yrs. Especially King, Brett's opened up to him. So, why shouldn't they?

He also said if he wasn't playing in the NFC Title game he'd probably root for Favre too. I think he and the Giants are smart enough to understand why people want Favre in the Super Bowl. I think he's just reminding everyone that the Giants aren't going to lay down and let it happen without a fight.

Is calling players by first names uncommon in football? Like Lebron, Carmelo, Shaq, Kobe, Vince, Lamar, Smush, Pau, Dirk, Amare, Shane, Rafer, Yao...
