    If Ratner refuses to rebuild, then perhaps this is the next step. At this point, Shaq is a high risk, high reward kind of guy. He can definitely put the Nets over the hump, but then again, he might just crash and burn. If the Heat are truly looking to make this deal, Thorn has to look at it, and decide whether Shaq is worth it or not. That's just the way it is.

    Shaq once called Lawrence Frank "Laura Frank." You think this team has no respect for Coach Frank now? HAHAHAHA

I'd defintely do this tho. Shaq gives us instant credibility and he's playing well of late.</div>

    What does "instant credibility" mean? Does it mean wins? Does it mean even rebounds? In the last month, Boone has outrebounded Shaq and in their face to face, he outplayed the big fella. If Shaq had only one year beyond this, I would consider it, but in two years, assuming a Kidd extension, you would finish the season with a 37-year-old point guard, a 38-year-old center, a 33-year-old shooting guard making a total of $48 million. NO GM in his right mind, not even one who drafted Skita and Nene over Amare, and then gave KMart and Nene $150 million, is going to do that.
    </div>
    Stop puttin' Shaq and boone in the same sentence. [IMG]
    </div>
    Boone had 17 and 16 tonight...bring his average to 10.9 and 9.2 as a starter...maybe he shoukd be mentioned in the same sentence...

    I honestly think we're fine with Boone and Sean. we can keep mags, but we need to get rid of allen, collins, and maybe boki or twan to pick up a sharpshooter/possible big man not named Shaq or something.</div>
    sean and boone is so damn redundant. they are both shotblockers and rebounders but neither have any offensive game. the nets offense sux, even with them in the lineup because neither can make a shot 10 ft away. Shaq is a major upgrade
    </div>

    Yeah....hmm....redundant?

    Tonight they combined for 28 points, 27 rebounds, 7 blocks, a steal and an assist...the game before that against the Knicks they combined for 34 points, 17 rebounds, 2 assists and a blocked shot...they've only been next to eachother for 15 games yet they are playing extremely well together.

    If thats redundant than I'll take redundant any day of the week.

    Right, because the second best player on the worst team on the East is clearly what we need to put us over the top.

    This is just a worse version of the Dikembe Mutumbo deal, because this time we're giving up a talented player.

    Forget Shaq, Vince for D-Whistle! Just imagine the number of free throws we'd be gettin combining him with RJ!

    Back on topic now, Shaq isn't as dominant as he used to be. Why don't we get Haslem? He's got that jumper, pretty good defense, and good rebounding. He'd fit perfectly into our system.

    A thought came to me: since the Shaq rumor was spread via word-of-mouth, I think its entirely possible that "O'Neal" was heard, and "Shaq" became lost in translation. Compare that to the 'other' O'Neal rumor, which seems to have more meat on its bones.

    Why would you trade for Shaq? He's clearly, CLEARLY on the downside of his career. He's past dominating games and is now a mere 3rd option at best. And oh by the way, do you really want someone who's going to miss a fourth of a season due to injuries? I wouldn't. If you're going to get an O'Neal, you might as well get one who still has some solid years left in his career and go for the Indiana version.
