<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'> Thorn: “It Takes Time” January 21, 2008, 2:07 am There’s not much new to report from the (somewhat) weekly Rod Thorn update. The Nets president believes that his team will come along eventually and is struggling at this point because they made a major mid-season rotation shift, adding Josh Boone and Sean Williams to the starting lineup. They just need time to gel. Thorn did not comment on the Jermaine O’Neal speculation, but other sources will tell you that there was never much to it. Bad: Regardless of your feelings towards RJ or VC, we're playing poorly and we're going to ride this one out.
I don't see the need for him to keep confirming this. We know nothing will be done. It's not like the Nets are a contender that's losing and people are expecting something to be done so they compete. This is and will be the Nets team.
I consider this good news although I am tired of hearing the usual variation of "we just need to find our rhythm" from our coaching staff.

How long did it take Boston to develop chemistry....we've had VC, RJ and Kidd for 3+ seasons now.....

KG is like a glue guy, he gets boards, he draws double teams, and is a good passer, and he is a defensive anchor, scores down low. Maybe the Nets just need a low-post scoring big man?

Isn't it interesting that his two best seasons as a Net, at least statistically wise, were without RJ? Vince isn't a player than can be utilized without the ball. He needs to have the ball to feel involved that's why this new offense that runs moreso through RJ isn't helping Vince out much. Sure it's helping RJ put up career numbers scoring wise but it's not helping the team utilize Vince or even help the team win that much. Personally I feel that with RJ being the go-to-guy the team is a less than .500 team but with Vince as the go-to-guy the team is a .500 team or maybe a little more.
I am just going to remember the Nets best games. Vince was THE GUY. Game 3 and Game 4 vs TO. Our best playoff games in recent memory. VC DOMINTED. he got the ball and created Remember vs Cleveland this year? Vince had 32pts and like 6 assists. He got the ball and CREATED and dominated the Cavs. In the last week or so, Vince has been getting the ball far too little and RJ has gotten the ball far too much. Right now, its simply who is the main go to guy. Frank says RJ. But our record says Vince. I am not that confused. I know the problem and its been proven over the years that when VINCE IS THE GUY. the team wins more and has a chance to win.
I'm not one to base my opinion on a single game, nor would I ever attempt to (hopefully). But yesterday's game against the Suns serves as a good example because it's probably fresh on people's minds: Vince had opportunities, but he just didn't do anything with them. To be fair, this issue of consistency is something that the entire team is poor at.
The problem is defense and the fact that the three best players on the team don't play it. Vince, Kidd and RJ are fake stars, All they care about is their numbers and the W can go to hell. Kidd is happy with a .500 team and not one peep from Vince or RJ about how bad this season has been.

He can't think the whole team will revolve around him. It's a system that he needs to participate in or it won't work. He needs to put the shot up when it's there, he needs to attack the whole when his defender is crowding him. He can't expect 30 scoring opportunities a game and complete 10 of them. He's probably looking at half of that now with the greater emphasis on the motion. Does that put more pressure on him to complete more opportunities? No it doesn't, those 15 other opportunities are going to other players who are in a better scoring position. Sure VC from 15 is better than Collins from 2. VC's just got to play within the system 100% of the time.

That being said I completely agree with you. RJ and Vince don't play well together...its just the way it is. This experiment needs to be over because its obvious they just can't mesh on the court. At this point I say trade either one depending on the best offer...either way we should get back at least two players and a draft pick.
