I don't care about the history of big men in that school, I know the dude can flat out play. Did you see him DOMINATE Arizona a week ago? </div> In the NBA he is going to need to be able to fight for position on the low block or stick to being strictly a face-up big. Right now he has trouble scoring with his back to the basket if he gets pushed out a few feet from his sweet spot on the low block. </div> push him off the low block, theirs only a few player in the league that will be able to do that. </div> You really have no understanding of how big and strong the PF's and Centers in the NBA are. Brook Lopez is listed at 260 which means he likely isn't that heavy. He will get pushed around quite easily.
guys, forget about the lottery. we'll stuck with mediocre pick anyway. it's nonsense how playing bad or the worst possible basketball ("Even Minnesota plays better basketball" - Mark Jackson) for the most part of season we'll wind up with 15-17th pick...
he's young, he'll put on the weight, and he's more athletic than most 7-footer. With the way the NBA is being played today, you see Noah, Horford, even Ty Thomas players who don't have the biggest frames but are able to rebound. Horford is 245lbs and is averaging 10 rebounds a game.
Lopez is averaging 17pts 8reb and has only played over 30minutes 3 times this season averaging 27 MPG. their 7-2 since he's come back from suspension.
Jason Collins averaged 15 and 8 his last year at Stanford...and to compare Lopez to Horford is a ridiculous insult. Horford will be a top player in this league. As for Noah and Thomas...blah offensively. Why should we go after a big man anyway? Nenad will probably resign cheap and Boone and Williams have tons of potential. We need youth and depth at SG and SF yet we always default to how we need a big man. They don't grow on trees people and you tend to only get great big men with a top 5 pick...Also looking at say the 2006 draft class which was supposedly loaded with bigmen....scouts tend to be wrong. Boone got picked with the 23rd pick...behind Aldridge, Bargani, Cedric Simmons, Hilton Armstrong, Saer Sene, Patrick O'Bryant, Sheldon Williams and Oleksiy Pecherov. Other than Aldridge who out of the group has outplayed Boone? You could make an argument for Bargani but every other player has been a total bust...same will probably go for many of the players this season. There is no Andrew Bynum, no Dwight Howard, no Garnett no Duncun, no Amare or any frontcourt player of that potential in the draft. Lets get off the big man fixation. please.
no I watch Horford all time, and Lopez could be up there with him. Ad Collins was in college 4 year, this is Lopez shopmore year. lopez in his shopmore year kills Collin's in his best year. Lopez is being coached by Trent Johnson, Collins was coached by Mike Montgomery...I don't understand the comparison between the two.
I absolutely hate when people either A) Don't read somebody's full post and respond anyway or Only partially responds to a post. Thanks. The Jason Collins comparison was made to show that Stanford which has a weak schedule can play teams which make there players look better than they are. Lets see how he does at the end of the season vs UCLA, the Pac 10 tourney and potenially the NCAA's before we dub him the next big thing. He is nowhere near as athletically talented as Al Horford. Period. He is a decent player who may be a starter in the league but looks to be a Tweener as his game may better be suited for a power forward position but he's to slow. I think this kid's gonna get victimized by the speed of the game.
Douglas-Roberts look solid to me, as does Rush and Lawson. Is the pg from Texas out of our reach, Augustine? I like L.R. Mbah a Moute as a secound round pick as well... he works really hard on the court and his winspan make him an interesting prospect
so mitch richmond singlehandedly qualifies michael beasley being better than kevin love at this point?

For all the talk about Jason Collins at Stanford, he was a completely different player then. He was one of the top recruits in the entire country coming out of high school, and a pretty good player in college. He was much more of a scorer. And I could see Mayo potentially falling because he just keeps getting in trouble.
We should look at this guy. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Pat-Calathes-1373/ He is a fast riser, draftexpress just put him into the 2nd round, and he could go higher. He's a 6-10 forward with ball skills, lights out shooter from behind the arc (45.1%). Does a little bit of everything, 18 ppg, 8 rpg, 3 apg, 1.4 spg, 1.4 bpg.

You have teams like UCLA, Washington ST., USC, Oregon, Arizona that al have a chance of being Tourney teams...what time are you living in? no where near athletically talented??? Since when is Horford Shawn Kemp, he's bigger, taller, and stronger than Horford at the same stage of his career, he might not be as athletic, but Horford doesn't run him out of the park in that category.

Hibbert is too unselfish sometimes. There's so many plays where he's five feet from the rim but passes. When you're over 7 feet tall, you have to shoot when you're that close.
