Zach Randolph is nothing in terms of being a headcase compared to what Dennis Rodman was. I'm completely convinced that Randolph is the best option to throw alongside Bynum. Zbo's got a nice rebounding game and a beautiful midrange game. He can play in the high post and Bynum can dominate the low post. An offensive lineup featuring Kobe, Bynum, and Randolph would be absolutely deadly. Now, is there a gamble? Sure, but there is also a gamble by keeping Lamar, there would've been a gamble on Boozer if we did that, there would've been a gamble on Artest if we did that. Gambles are a part of the game.

There isn't a coach in the league I'd take over Bynum when it comes to coaching a gamble.

Did you by chance mean Phil when you were talking about gambles there Mamba?

And I agree, I'd take Randolph in a heartbeat. Our low post offense would be nearly impossible to defend with both of them on the court, and with them down low, Kobe would have a lot easier time on the perimeter, as would every other perimeter player we have.

LOL! Yes I did mean Phil! I don't know what the hell happened there!

Bynum would keep Zbo in check, though!

You do have a point there... oh and it works btw http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/trad...p;te=&cash=

But what if this plan backfires and randolph ends up just like kwame??? we'd be stuck with his contract for

Id rather take Brand, Green, FA and lose Odom, Kwame, Vlad

Than risk acquiring Zbo's attitude for Odom

aren't you guys the least bit concern about the grumbles in NY that Randolph has stunted Curry's growth, and how that could affect Bynum. I dont necessarily believe it to be true, because Curry sucks because he sucks IMO, but still, it has to cross your mind and concern you a bit

That thought crossed my mind, but Bynum and Curry are completely different players. Bynum has a work ethic like no other, while Curry is lazy. I think if Curry really tried, he could make it work with Randolph in NY, but the guy is just plain lazy. I mean..any time a 7-footer is averaging only 5.2 RPG, you've got to question his heart and desire to win.

ZBo has a lot of downside because of his off the court behavior.

He once shattered Ruben Patterson's eye socket after punching him the face during practice.

ZBo has had his fair share of altercations with the police as well. I'm actually surprised he hasn't got into any trouble in NY with all the nightlife out there. I'm concerned about the nightlife scene here in LA where there are plenty of temptations for ZBo to get caught up in.

Here's a comment from a Blazer fan about ZBo and these are the type of things that worry me about bringing a guy like him around.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Curses to the Oregonian for reporting bad things about the Blazers. They should just leave Zach and Darius alone. Who cares that they hang out with gang bangers who carry guns. Its alright that they were given millions of dollars to give themselves better lives, but they decided to bring the hood with them.

Unless a light magically goes off in Zach's head he's never going to get any positive accolades in the NBA. He needs to understand that the NBA is a business and PR is very important. People tend to shy away from casting votes for a guy that punched a teammate, got caught smoking pot, was accused of rape, goes to strip clubs when he's supposed to be on bereavement leave, goes speed racing, and then says things like "I've kept my nose clean."</div>

Where there is smoke there is fire.

I remember reading a quote by his old high school coach. Paraphrasing. ... "Every day I open the newspaper and don't read Zach is dead it's a real blessing."

He definitely has a lot of baggage. I wouldn't mind swapping Randolph for LO if his contract also expires at the end of next season, but we'd have to stick with him for another 3 to 4 years. If this expiriment fails, we'd kill all of our cap flexibility. I also find it alarming how the Knicks are already shopping him around the league even though Zach hasn't even played half a season with them yet. And they can't even find a good trading partner. After thinking it over again, I'd definitely pass. I don't really think he'd work out here. He just brings too much baggage with his questionable attitude.

I think we might just have to wait until Lamar's contract is expiring next year before we trade him (if we do at all). Zach Randolph has a lot more baggage than most of the players the Lakers have passed up in the past, and his contract is way too long.

The Lakers can get by this season once Bynum is back, and Odom is a complementary player but he's not this bad. Maybe there's someone else I am forgetting about that we can acquire, but at the moment we shouldn't panic yet.
