No surprise that Rod Thorn continues to have faith in coach Lawrence Frank, despite the Nets' big slide. The team president is not of the belief that Frank is the problem, but he and others in the organization are concerned that they don't have enough to go out and compete anymore. But rather than break up the Big Three by trading Jason Kidd, which he looks at as giving up on the season, Thorn would first prefer adding a player or two, hoping an infusion of new blood will help. Thorn doesn't want to give up shot-blocking rookie Sean Williams in a deal, but he's willing to part with Marcus Williams, since the Nets are still not convinced he can lead a team.

Seriously how can you trade a guy who the coach benches every couple of minutes because he makes a mistake. Seriously if NJ pull this trigger and ship Williams out Frank and Thorn are officially the most useless individuals in the league.

Why should we keep him? What does he do well? He can't shoot, hes not fast or quick, he cant pass well unless its to Boone, hes not a slasher, hes not an emotional leader, hes not a floor general, and his defense is horrible. When we drafted him I was a huge fan of his but he hasnt shown much and I dont really trust our future in his hands right now

What can we get for him? I doubt we can trade youth for youth so more like 26 to 29 year old or something.

Is he really that bad? I thought he had some nice skills coming out of college. Wouldn't mind the Warriors getting him to backup Baron and give us a PG for the future. Maybe he'd fit in better in an up-tempo offense where he's allowed to shoot and make mistakes. Then again if hes a crappy passer like you guys say then be probably wouldn't be a great fit.

Before analyzing Marcus Williams so much, it might pay to see him when healthy.

I don't know what these guys are talking about, he is an excellent passer, the best part of his game. The Warriors might be a nice tempo for him.

I don't understand why so many people want to keep Marcus. He's a ball-hog, who dribbles far too much, shooting ridiculous shots, getting 75% of his layups blocked. Don't blame Frank for benching him. He deserves to be benched. If we can get something solid in return, get rid of him.

Marcus Williams is a marginal NBA player. They should be looking to trade him.

what Marcus Williams have you've been watching ? last I checked the Nets wanted him to regain his scoring touch, he has never been greedy , nowhere near watever the hell your insinuating. I 'm seeing this text and if people didn't know better they'd say your calling him Stephon Marbury the 2nd. Marcus moves the ball, and he drives and kicks it out, on a fastbreak he always gets guys the wide open shot. The 3pt shots are to stretch the floor, Kidd takes the same amount of 3's and bricks more than MW but no one saids a damn thing. What I see w/ Marcus is young Mark Jackson getting no consistant minutes and w/ no head coach because Lawrence Frank is what he is right now a damn disgrace as a coach, he right now makes Isiah Thomas look like a better coaching option.

I am calling him a second coming of Mebury in a way. Whether you want to believe if or not, Marcus is a ball hog. He was last year, and he hasn't changed so far this year. He dribbles FAR too much around the perimeter and nearly every time he drives, his shot is blocked because he barely gets 3 inches off the ground. This basically makes his only offensive scoring weapon his jump shot, which is far from dependable.

And I haven't even mentioned his deficiencies on defense yet.

What does his age or the fact that he was injured have ANYTHING to do with his style of play? He played the same last year when he wasn't injured.

Watch the games. He's a ball-hog. Go through the game threads and see how many times it's mentioned by NUMEROUS people.

I don't see it mentioned by numerous people at all and again I don't see how he's a ballhog and how 22 yrs. of age has nothing to do w/ it, it's a perfectly known fact more playing time would give him confidence and alot of NBA players need that. I've checked alot of gamethreads trust me RGM, PSD, NYYFANS....none have been talking about MW as a ballhog infact this season there has been more sniping at Kidd for his ability to not protect to the ball at the end of games. I just think no one can change your mind about MW because you simply don't like something about him but when he's leading that next team w/ 17/7/5 and you start hearing why they traded him don't join in.

Get your facts straight. I was one of the happiest people on basketballboards.net when we drafted Marcus. I was expecting him to be the Jason Kidd replacement just like everybody else. Sadly, he's shown close to nothing in possibly living up to that expectation.

that happens when you don't get minutes and get pulled after one mistake or missed shot.

clearly I'm not going to say that about a 22 year old who doesn't get decent minutes, but hey I haven't posted in this game thread, would you like posts from all the other boards to support my arguement too ? because the majority don't believe Marcus is a ballhog. I'd say the ones that do have no patience and are the same people who wanted Boone traded and called him a bust last season.
