Honestly, no. There is too much potential in both Farmar and Crittenton, IMO, to give up for Kidd. Kidd is an all-time great, he's still a great player, but the lifespan left on his career is minimum, IMO. The only reason Critt has been struggling, if you want to call it that, is because Phil's got him learning to play the 2 guard.

I thought the main problem with signing Webber was that the Lakers didn't want him.

Some news was leaked that they changed their minds on him when he demanded that he could sign in two weeks, not right now.

I can't say that this deal really entices me anymore. I love how well Farmar has developed and I still think Crittenton is going to be a big part of the future of this team. At this point, I really don't want to have to give up either, and we'd probably have to part with one in order to make a deal with the Nets work.

Kobe's primed. I'd do it if it sent only one of the two. Either Farmar of Critt. Not both of them however. Kidd, Bynum, and Kobe trio would be sick. I think Odom would play better without having to worry about being a top 3 option.

Moo2K4 is exactly right.
If we trade for Kidd, we would have to give up Farmar or Crittenton because then we have Fisher AND Farmar AND Crittenton on the bench.
The only way we can keep these three is if we start Fish at SG and Kobe at SF, which is a big NO THANK YOU. Honestly, I would trade Crittenton right now just because Farmar is still a pretty good future type player as it seems already.
Lakers Trade
Kwame Brown
Lamar Odom
Sasha Vujacic
1st Rd. Pick

Lakers Receive
Jason Kidd
Jamaal Magloire
Malik Allen

I say we assign Javaris to the D-League if we do this trade. He doesn't play much as it is, and we have a great influx of PGs.

I read in the Nets forum that Thorn has the green light to take the deal from Dallas which would be Diop, Stackhouse, and Devean "Gump" George. Basically 3 expiring contracts and picks for Kidd.

http://sportstwo.com/forums/Kidd-Mavs-t110772.html

I'm reluctant to trade Farmar or JCritt, but if trading one of them is what it takes to acquire Jason Kidd you have to pull the trigger if you're the Lakers.

So the Nets are basically going to trade Kidd for expiring contracts and a low first round pick? Mitch better do something because we can do much better than that. I say give up both Kwame and Sasha as expiring contracts, and maybe add in Crittenton and a couple of picks. I'm not sure how the salaries will work out, but I'm sure it will be pretty close. If not, they can tweek it around easily

I kinda want to unload Luke too...also very reluctant to move either Jordan Farmar or Javaris, I like the both of them.

Right now Luke is becoming very static and isn't doing much, no more of that passing or the shooting at the block or even the 3's from last year. I don't mind keep Vlad if he was healthy like the beginning of the season. Cause having a shooter like Vlad in there with JKidd can be devastating if you also factor the threat of an alley oop to Bynum, a pass to a cutting Ariza, an open Vlad, or just Kobe. Having a healthy Vlad adds more options for us.

People I really want to get rid of: Luke and Kwame
People I wouldn't mind getting rid of: Lamar, Mihm, Sasha, and Vlad

People I'd like besides JKidd: Jamaal Magloire

I'd make that trade in a heartbeat, no questions asked. Especially since it means getting rid of Luke Walton. I don't see why you guys would want him, but hey, be my guest

No. I'm against giving up Crittenton and Farmar.

What about just one of them, but throw in a future first in addition to this year's first?

I don't like the idea of giving up Farmar or Crittenton, but if I had to choose...Jordan Farmar. I think he's a more common player than Crittenton.

well I'd rather only take one of them and pick up another first rounder. Frankly I don't need 3 future PG's on this team (Marcus)!

There was an article circulating that Williams was being shopped? Are there problems with him in Jersey right now?

There's some rumors that Frank and Thorn are tired of Williams because of the lack of conditioning among the fact he isn't what they expected.

I had a weird dream yesterday that we traded Kwame for Steve Nash.

Anyway, I think we're OK at the guard position, we need some decent forwards. I was thinking of a deal like this:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Jersey Nets

Incoming Players

Kwame Brown
Salary: $9,075,000 Years Remaining: 1
PTS: 5.7 REB: 5.4 AST: 1.3 PER: 9.79

Lamar Odom
Salary: $13,248,596 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 13.2 REB: 9.5 AST: 2.9 PER: 13.48

Outgoing Players: Jason Kidd

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Los Angeles Lakers

Incoming Players

Brian Cardinal
Salary: $5,850,000 Years Remaining: 3
PTS: 2.1 REB: 1.9 AST: 0.8 PER: 6.30

Pau Gasol
Salary: $13,735,000 Years Remaining: 4
PTS: 18.9 REB: 8.8 AST: 3.0 PER: 20.53

Outgoing Players: Kwame Brown, Lamar Odom

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Memphis Grizzlies

Incoming Players

Jason Kidd
Salary: $19,728,000 Years Remaining: 2
PTS: 11.3 REB: 8.3 AST: 10.4 PER: 16.08

Outgoing Players: Brian Cardinal, Pau Gasol

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Although this deal makes no sense at all for anyone apart from us.
