Kelenna Azubuike B Good player to replace JRich. Strong and versatile. Makes lots of mismatches for defenders with his type of play and brings energy off the bench. Matt Barnes C Playing pretty bad this season, but understandable with his injuries and the passing of his mom. He has played great the past few games and this grade will possibly be higher by the end of the season. Marco Belinelli Incomplete Needs more minutes. Andris Biedrins B Best rebounder on team by far, good post player and defender. Needs to get the ball more and could average 14 a game. Austin Croshere C Played good in one strech when he got his minutes, other then that he has been average. Baron Davis B+ Best player on the team, and the leader; needs to be a little more consistent with his shooting and turnovers. Monta Ellis A Great season for the rising star. Has been playing phenomanal. Has shot the ball well and is maturing every game with his passing and defense. Al Harrington B Plays good whether he is starting or coming of off the bench. Shoots many 3's, but with the percentage he's shooting, you can't complain. Troy Hudson Incomplete Played decent when he played, but career is most likely over now with his injury. Stephen Jackson B+ Best defender on the team. Has played opposing stars very well. Team plays much better with him. His scoring has gone down the past few games, but his passing has improved by far. Patrick O'Bryant Incomplete Good, when he gets minutes. Kosta Perovic Incomplete See Patrick O'Bryant. Mickael Pietrus C Not having a great season with his low basketball IQ, but is decent off the bench and could hit 3's. CJ Watson B Good pick up to back up Baron, is a good shooter and passer. Brandon Wright Incomplete See Patrick O'Bryant
Baron- B+. Like you said hes been inconsistent. Very good season overall. Jackson- B-. As good as he started off hes been pretty bad for the last month or so. Still comes up big in the 4th quarters but then again the games wouldn't be close if he hit his shots at a decent clip and didn't turn it over so much. Hes stopped looking to pass so much which is hurting his scoring because defenders crowd him more. While his defense is still very solid its fallen off a bit from the first couple months. He calls his own number way too much these days. Biedrins- B+. Hes the anchor in there and doing a good job. Needs some help though. Monta- B+. Hes developing very nicely. Gotta love his offensive game but still sucks on defense at times. Hes especially bad when hes defending someone who moves off the ball well. Al Harrington- C. Hasn't been very good IMO. Does a nice job of opening up the lanes with his 3 pt shooting but outside of shooting and hustle he doesn't give a whole lot. He is the most inconsistent 40% 3 pt shooter I've ever seen. Azu- B. Started off very well but as with most players who you don't expect much from you start to see the flaws as time goes on. He seems to eff up a lot of layups and his FT shooting has fallen off a lot. Hes had some very nice games though, hit some big shots, and rebounds very well. Barnes- C-. He has a good game every few weeks but hes been largely disappointing. His 3 pt shooting sucks this year and he still makes infuriating mistakes. If he can consistently bring production for the rest of the season he can redeem himself. Pietrus- C-. Like Barnes, had a few good games but mostly just sucks. Croshere- B-. Pretty solid player for a minimum contract guy. Surprisingly good rebounder and defender. His outside shot actually kind of sucks even though Barnett oogles at it. The signing of Webber may indicate that hes close to done for the year. Watson- B. Hits some shots, plays under control, doesn't make negative plays like Barnes and Pietrus. Can't ask for much more from a rookie call up.
Baron (A-) Those ill-timed hero three-pointers bury the Warriors more often than they save them. There's no way you should be shooting threes when you're leading very late in the game, nor when there is more than 15 seconds on the shot clock. Ever, really. The Warriors can get open threes at will in most contests, they need to look for a higher percentage shot first in every situation and that ultimately is on Baron to deliver. Baron also needs to realize he is a low-percentage shooter and that he has many better options on offense. I like how he takes the ball to the rim, but he rolls it off a lot too. Having said that, he has been rather spectacular for most of the year, and healthy. SJax (B+) Really just the terrible FG % to complain about, other than that he has been brilliant. He still loses baskets by complaining about calls while play continues sometimes, but he has largely reined in those tendencies. Great court vision and inside passing, has the "clutch" gene. Biedrins (B+) He still plays too soft for my tastes but then that's really his game. He gets a lot of baskets by stretching and leaning quickly towards the basket, I'd like to see him develop his more traditional post footwork more, and the hook shot. Also when he has an opportunity to dunk he needs to throw it down instead of flipping it in. Even if the flip is an 80% shot, the dunk is close to 100% Another impressive improvement in FT % which will be critical to keeping him in late games. Still commits too many soft reach-in fouls, but then he consistently gets the worst calls I've ever seen for any NBA player, why do the refs hate him? He's only playing 28 minutes a game, I think his numbers could be considerably better with more PT but that's not really his fault. Monta (A) Amazing development, and I have to admit I underestimated him. He has made the perfect adjustments to his game to counter opponents who started waiting at the rim to block his blow-by shot. He is taking much smarter shots including a reliable midrange jumper, which most of the other Warriors neglect, and a really pretty little floater move. He clearly made a commitment to rebounding, his freethrow % continues to improve to where he is among the best on the team, he draws more fouls on defenders, and his turnover rate is way down because he's not being lazy with his passes like last year. Needs to assert himself over all four quarters to reach the next level. Harrington © Not a big fan of his game, as others have said just too inconsistent. Digs the Warriors deep holes while he attempts to shoot himself out of slumps with momentum-busting long bombs when he should be trying to take the ball inside more. Can be fantastic in certain matchups but as a day to day player he's too much of a liability. Pietrus (D) Why is he still here? Barnes (B-) Based on what they're paying him, a good piece off the bench if he's not playing huge minutes. Azubuike (B) Same as Barnes, really, but like Barnes, I don't want to see him out there much unless he's resting a starter. Even though he hits some big shots I feel like there is this hole on the court often when he's playing. He kind of disappears like Pietrus.
Baron A- : Only drawback is his free throw shooting has been terrible lately. Other than that he's playing like an MVP. Also like that he has better shot selection lately, especially early in games where he lets others score and he does the distributing. Jackson B : Can't deny the team is better with him. But he needs to improve his shot selection (especially those 1 on 5 post ups) and stop making dumb turnovers. Biedrins B+ : Perfect center for this team. Well almost. If he could shoot threes then he'd be perfect. Only drawback for him is that he's not that great defensively. If only he could block shots like Bynum or Dalembert. Monta A : Midrange jumper is money. Also he makes the warriors fast break work. Harrington C: Inconsistent. Only thing he can do is shoot threes. Would be a D if his 3's weren't so valuable to the team. Pietrus F: Inconsistent. Can't shoot the 3 like Harrington. Foul machine. Got to give him credit for defending power forwards though. Azubuike C: Hard to evaluate him. He doesn't seem to help the team much except allow some brief rest for other players. He's too invisible. Barnes C: Inconsistent. But I give him some leeway for his mom's death and his finger injuries. He can really help this team because he's much more versatile than Harrington. If only he could shoot 3's like last year. Croshere D: Always injured. Watson C: Similar to Buike in that he's invisible, there to spell rest for other players. But at least like Azu he doesn't make mistakes. Bellinelli F: All his shots are flat. Can't really do much else. Wright D+: Shows potential with his wingspan and height. Rebounding and blocking shots. His offensive game is awkward to watch. O' Bryant D: He's done okay. But that Laker game stands out. I like that he seems to be cheering his team on even though he's not playing. Wish he got to play more. Kosta: D: Like what I saw him from him in one game. But right now he's not going to help. Not with Nellie as coach. So unfortunately he gets D, even if it's not really his fault. Troy Hudson F: Injured and when he did play, he looked awful. Webber ?: Not sure what to expect.
