Cubs eye Rangers Gagne and Lofton?

QUOTE

Now that the Cubs are officially shopping, why not look to Texas for Eric Gagne and Kenny Lofton? Gagne might not throw as hard as he once did, but he can run it up there at 94-95 mph and his breaking stuff is sick. He's 14-for-15 in save opportunities. Even at 40, Lofton can lead off, which would allow Lou Piniella to move Alfonso Soriano down in the lineup, and prevent Lofton from winding up in Milwaukee. -- Daily Herald

-Petey

I like the idea of adding Gagne to the bullpen, but I dont think Lofton has too much left and they already have a bunch of young speed
Gagne is overraated. He would be the perfect compliment to Prior & Wood though.
I can't recall who the manager was in the 1st all star game that counted but using Gagne as the closer was a mistake. Wagner was & still is a better RP. The fact that I can say that about someone who pitches for the Mess surprises me.
