NFC COACH OF THE YEAR Mike McCarthy - Head Coach, Green Bay Packers -Engineered remarkable return to prominence for Packers franchise in 2007, compiling 13-3 regular season record, capturing the NFC North Title, a playoff victory over Seattle and berth in NFC Championship Game (losing in overtime to NY Giants). -Took over a 4-12 Packers team two years ago and led them to 8-8 as rookie coach last year and then to 13-3 this year. -Kansas City connection includes time as assistant coach for Chiefs and recently being inducted into Baker University Athletic Hall of Fame; he was an all-conference tight end at Baker, helping the school to NAIA Division II runner-up finish as a senior captain.

I will admit I have little confidence in McCarthy when he came in, because the year before he got hired, the 49ers had statistically the worst offense in football. But he has done a really good job guiding that team, it doesnt hurt to have one of the best QBs running your offense, rather than a rookie Alex Smith. I really want to see how the team comes togther if next year Aaron Rodgers is running the team.
Favre will be back next year. I'll be curious to see how (and if) the Packers can improve their roster in the off season. The only guy we're really in danger of losing to free agency is Corey Williams, so we should still be intact on both sides of the ball.
