<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Whether he admits it or not, Kobe Bryant is obviously glad the Lakers didn't trade Andrew Bynum for Jason Kidd last season. But now it's possible for the Lakers to add Kidd without losing Bynum. How's this for a Big Three: Kobe, Kidd, Bynum. On Monday, as I was pondering trade possibilities for Kidd, I came up with this proposal: Lamar Odom, Javaris Crittenton and Sasha Vujacic for Kidd. It works financially and could potentially benefit both teams. With a trio of Odom, Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson, the Nets would not slip at all. In fact, because Odom's such a strong rebounder and can score inside, the Nets might actually get better. Crittenton, the rookie out of Georgia Tech, could be their point guard of the future. The Nets are a little down on Marcus Williams, and to have those two pushing each other for playing time would be a good thing. And Vujacic can shoot. If it doesn't work out with Odom, the Nets can let him walk after next season, since that's the last year on his contract. I threw my proposal out to a few league executives Monday, and they said they'd make that deal in a heartbeat -- if they were the Nets. In fact, I'm told that earlier this season, the Nets offered Kidd to L.A. for Odom, Vujacic and Jordan Farmar, but the Lakers weren't interested. So the question is, should the Lakers do it? The potential problem for the Lakers is that, with Bynum out, Odom's importance is magnified. Granted, Bynum will return in six weeks, but until then, Odom's 9.5 rebounds and inside scoring ability are crucial. The Lakers don't need Crittenton, as promising as he is, because they've got Farmar. And while Vujacic can shoot, as Kobe said in his infamous Bynum rant last summer, we're talking about Jason Kidd!. Imagine how much Kidd would help Bynum. The deal would also have positive ramifications off the court for L.A., as Kobe would be ecstatic. Also, Kidd would be rejuvenated and play even better than he has already in averaging a near triple-double. The Lakers' starters would be Kidd, Kobe, Luke Walton, Ronny Turiaf and Bynum, with Farmar, Derek Fisher, Vlad Radmanovic and Kwame Brown off the bench. Not bad. But so far, the Lakers haven't shown much interest in Kidd, believe it or not. Perhaps that's because Phil Jackson's triangle offense doesn't need a true point guard. But the Princeton offense doesn't either, and Kidd took the Nets to two finals in that offense. I admit I'd be a bit hesitant if I were the Lakers, just because of Odom's size and effectiveness inside. But for J-Kidd, I think I'd pull the trigger.</div> I found it funny Chris Broussard thinks Odom is effective on the inside. Odom's importance isn't magnified without Bynum. What's been magnified are all of his faults playing for the Lakers. JCritt+Sasha+Odom for Kidd Not a bad trade, but we would be hurting in the front court until Bynum returns or until Mihm can get back in the mix. His ankle and other health issues better be 100% by now. In fact, I'm told that earlier this season, the Nets offered Kidd to L.A. for Odom, Vujacic and Jordan Farmar, but the Lakers weren't interested. ^^I'm not sure if there's any truth to this. I can see why the Lakers don't want to give up Farmar, but damn Jason Kidd & Kobe Bryant back court would be so damn entertaining to watch. They had instant chemistry playing in the FIBA tournament.
I'd rather give up Farmar than Crittenton. The potential on Crittenton is just mind blowing compared to Farmar.
I'd rather not trade either of them if we can avoid it, but damn this is Jason Kidd we'd be getting. He's the nightly triple double Odom is supposed to be doing for us.
We're going to be a serious threat in two seasons. If Bynum does continue improving at the rate he does, in a couple of seasons he'll be a 20+/10/2 player. I'm not sure Kidd will be a triple-double threat in a couple of seasons. Two seasons ago, Shaq was still a 20/10 guy, now look at him. Although, on the flipside, the addition of Kidd could improve Bynum to that status and it could get us deep into the playoffs.
I agree we need to make a bold move here. The one team I feared in the West was San Antonio, but they look vulnerable right now and the West is wide open. If you look at the team leading the West right now, it's not Phoenix, it's not Dallas, it's not San Antonio, it's the freaking New Orleans Hornets. The price tag for Jason Kidd has dropped significantly. Last year the Lakers were in the exact same situation and we didn't get a deal done because Thorn demanded Bynum when we though the deal was already agreed upon. We were willing to do it last season, there shouldn't be anything holding us back this year. From the mouth of Dr. Buss ... "I'm willing to pay the luxury tax for a winner." Jason Kidd makes us a winner. Go get him!
Get it done! I would rather give up Jcritt then Farmar. REASON: Win NOW...remember this little detail!?!?!

He has at least 10 TDs so far, the guy is a monster. Last year people were angry at Mitch for not trading Bynum, this year, hesitant for Farmar lol.
I'd do that deal ... although I'd try to lowball NJ first, and see if they would take Kwame (and fillers) in place of Odom instead ..

I would like to see odum go
If it's possible, keep Odom. Remember, he plays well as a third option. And with the addition of Kidd, it will make him a lot more comfortable, and maybe even move him down to fourth option on some nights, not to mention how much better Kidd will make him look. Also, I can't stress enough Odom's 15 million expiring contract next season. We can really use that type of money to land us something big next year if we can keep him. pg: Kidd sg: Bryant sf: Ariza pf: Odom c: Bynum ^I would drool over that lineup. Now obviously that probably won't happen
If it puts us over the top, I'd definately do it. But I personally see Farmar, Critt, Ariza, and Bynum as our lineup for the future once Kobe starts going downhill.
