I never understood the Powe love. </div> Well he played at Cal, and if you know his story of everything he has had to overcome in his life, you'd find it hard not to root for him as well. Google it if you haven't heard about it. But Leon is a player. He's tough as nails, very strong, he works hard, plays solid post defense, and may be one of the best rebounders in the NBA. The organization loves him, and for good reason. "The Show" needs to get some consistent minutes off the bench for the rest of the regular season. He can, has, and will respond.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The California sophomore has overcome more in twenty-two years than most people will in their entire lives. His father bolted the family when Leon was two. And when he was seven, his home was burned to the ground after his younger brother, Tim, was left alone to play with an errant matchbook. Accident, though it was, it nonetheless would have long-lasting repercussions. With no place to go and little money in their pockets, Powe and his family, which included five children, were made nomads overnight. For years, they settled where they could, whether it was homeless shelters or shoddy motels, sometimes everyone sleeping in the same bed. Over time, that burden proved too much for Powe’s mother, Connie Landry. With no steady income to support her family, and a burgeoning drug habit, Child Protective Services took control of Leon and Tim, placing both into foster care.</div> Source Talk about a rough childhood.
There's a reason people love Leon Powe so much. I remember last year during a Warriors game the fans started chanting "We want Powe! We want Powe!" THE WARRIORS FANS in a game against the CELTICS. I didn't think Doc would give in because at the time the C's were healthy and nobody really knew what Leon could do but he came in with about 2 minutes left, after not leaving the bench for the entire game and finished with 6 points and 5 rebounds.

But I do remember that, and I was pissed that Doc took so long to put him in. I also remember when Doc put Kandi Man in the game with like a minute left in LA. He got booed, and it was unnecessary for Doc to do that. He should have known better.
