Kidd to portland for Lafrentz, Pryzbilla and draft picks....or if Miles is retiring like i've heard before, Lafrentz, Miles and even more draft picks with Miles' contract coming off the books. basically any trade involving Lafrentz, draft picks and filler. Draft picks being a key part. Lafrentz will make 12 mil in the final year next year. It gives nets a good expiring contract, along with Collins' and any draft picks they get to work a trade in the offseason or at the deadline next year. Portland is playing well right now and they have Oden coming back next year so that's already as if they have the #1 draft pick so maybe they will see draft picks as expendable. They also have blake as their starting PG and he is in the final year of his contract with the rest of the team signed through 2009/2010. They are currently in the 8th seed in the west so maybe they'll be eager to attempt a run at the playoffs with a veteran PG. Anyway, unless cavs, lakers, mavs sweeten the pot with multiple draft picks, i cannot see the nets trading kidd to any of those teams. Thorn will also not give him away for nothing.
My gut says there's no way Pritchard trades for Kidd unless it's way, way, way on the cheap. Those guys care waaaay too much about chemistry, and also don't have any good, expiring contracts. If you want a big expiring contract for next year how about, uh, Jason Kidd?
It's definitely an interesting thought to entertain, unlikely as it may be Portland seems intent on preserving their chemistry.. It's a team that's basically full of players with no big contracts.. And they are overachieving without Oden which only gives them more and more patience when it comes to letting those expiring contracts come off the books. It's important to keep in mind that Portland has a bunch of rookie contracts on the verge of expiring, and that they actually do NEED the staggered cap room to keep their core
