<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Heat president and coach Pat Riley said Tuesday there has been ''very little activity'' with the team regarding potential deals as the Feb. 21 trading deadline approaches. The Heat, which owns the Eastern Conference's worst record, was considered one of the busier teams in trade talks until earlier this month. Riley said he meets with general manager Randy Pfund and vice president Andy Elisburg ''daily to discuss things,'' but apparently is only considering moves that would help the team beyond this season. Heat guard Ricky Davis, one of as many as 10 players on the roster whose contract expires after the season, said there's always a bit of anxiety among players as February approaches. Davis, Udonis Haslem, Jason Williams and Dorell Wright have been those most prominently mentioned in trade speculation throughout the league.</div> Source: Miami Herald
Davis is underachieving in Miami and a change of venue should be good for him and the team that acquires him. I'd love to see him on the Bulls, as he'd give them some offensive punch and he'd otherwise fill out the stat sheet nicely (rebounds, assists). He's never been known for his defense, which is a negative for the Bulls, but there's been a lot of low scoring quarters where his offense would be a nice shot in the arm.
Riley shouldn't trade any of his expiring deals. If anything, he should see if he can swing a small deal for another small one. Miami needs all the cap space they can get for this summer - the free agent class is stacked and the location is perennially one of the top free agent interests (who doesn't want to live in Miami?). Trading expiring deals would be a mistake.
