    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Today the Lakers leave for a nine-game, 16-day road trip -- their longest during the NBA's modern era.

The Lakers play three sets of back-to-back games on the trip that goes to Detroit, Toronto, Washington, D. C., New Jersey, Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, Charlotte and Minneapolis.

The Lakers will return home sometime around Feb. 14.

Jackson said he will do some "group" things to make it "more than just a business (trip)."

"I was looking forward to this being a trip in which this team would kind of unify itself and build the kind of resolve you need for playoff games and things like that," Jackson said. "Just because you're out on the road a lot. We'll see how we do. It'll be interesting. I'm curious."</div>

Well 7223 miles, isn't that much distance to cover over 16 days.

If they just played New Jersey and flew back, that would be a total of 5460 miles right there.
