Never happen.</div> If they had any balls they would do that. Utah is the only team in the NBA that would become a championship contender by adding Vince Carter. </div> How so? </div> Well, I touch on it a bit here. (I've been advocating Carter to Utah for quite a while.) Utah is a perfect storm of factors that make it a perfect environment for Vince. 1. It is a very structured, offense-oriented team. Vince is at his very best running pick and roll and pick and pop. Even offensive clods like Josh Boone, Malik Allen and Mikki Moore look like stars playing with Vince. Now replace those names with Boozer and Okur. Yikes. 2. They have a strong minded coach who won't put up with Vince's bullshit. Sloan will love Carter's skillset. Carter will love Sloan's offense. On days when Carter isn't "feeling it", Sloan knows how to get him turned around quick. It won't become a Kirilenko situation because, unlike AK, Carter is made to play in Sloan's system. 3. Deron Williams. Carter doesn't have to initiate the offense. He just has to be the SG. Teams can't lag off Deron in the halfcourt like they do Kidd. 4. Shooters everywhere. You'll be amazed how much more of the time Vince is "being aggressive and attacking the rim" when the opponent has to actually guard the perimeter. His "attitude" will improve 100%. Amazing! 5. Defense is priority #2. Utah is an offensive team, and they play like it. This is a team that made Carlos Boozer a superstar. Vince is Ron Artest compared to Boozer - especially since he won't have to kill himself on the offensive end like he does with the Nets (on days he decides to try). 6. Kirilenko. Playing with one of the best help defenders in the league will do wonders for Carter's horrific perimeter D. It might even motivate him to play some. Basically, I think Utah is not going to win the West as currently constructed. If they add Carter, I would say they have a serious, realistic chance to reach the finals. And that is the ONLY team I would say that about. Every other team should stay far, far away from Carter and his horrible contract.

I would add the Hornets, Magic, Suns and Raptors (lol) to name some. All have big men he could run the pick and roll/pop with and shooters to spread the floor.

Um...yeah, sure. As long as we get some useful players back. Oh yeah, and I noticed Hart to NJ. That's awesome.

Suns likely wouldn't be trade partners because they already have 3 big contracts in Nash, Amare, and Marion. And the Raptors... ok lets just leave it at that. But he would fit in well onto those teams.
I like ghoti's Utah idea. Utah needs help at the 2 guard position and will definately make them a well balance offense. The only thing is a VC trade to Utah should include AK47 in return. Kirelnko flourishes in the up tempo game and L frank can't make baby cry

But hey, I'm all for a salary dump, as long as we get a pick or two back (which we could convert into useful players). Seriously now, Brewer and Miles would be pretty cool to receive in a trade.
I like the Carter to Utah scenario, but it would be tough for them to take on his contract, Kirilenko, Boozer, and give an extension to Deron. Taking Kirilenko out of the lineup will expose both Boozer and Carter as horrific defenders. It's tight financially, but if they want to take a shot at a championship they would do it. I also like the idea I threw out the other day of VC to the Clips for Mobley and Cassell, but from the conversation I read in the paper today Thorn seems like he wants to only make one move and he plans on the team being competitive for the next few years and making the playoffs. No rebuilding.
i think it's a terrible idea to deal carter right now (assuming, again, that his pathetic play is the result of some injury).
