If this is true then Nenad must be playing tonight? Either that or we're going small ball, which may not be bad against the Heat. No Shaq or Mourning.

any chance we can go after Miller as well? he too was nearly dealt to the Lakers, Magloire and Wright?? two more expiring contracts! and it frees up another roster spot for that Jkidd trade thats bound to happen before the deadline.

Yeah and the picks crack me up. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Grizzlies will get the Lakers' first-round draft choices in 2008 and 2010; guard Aaron McKie, signed earlier Friday for salary cap purposes; cash considerations, and the rights to Gasol's brother Marc, a 2007 second-round pick of Los Angeles.

The Lakers also receive the Grizzlies' second-round pick in 2010.</div>

So the Lakers gave a late 1st rounder in 2008 and 2010 and will pick up a very high 2010 2nd rounder. Those 2010 picks could be 1 or 2 positions apart!

They traded their franchise player for cap space and 1 late 1st round pick. Too stupid.

    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Legacy @ Feb 1 2008, 05:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Why would any team want Collins? [IMG]</div>

Because he is a good post defender and they have none?

Because he is smart playing the post--averaging less than a turnover a game for his career--and that team is filled with basketball dunces, players like Stromile Swift and other busts like Darko Milicic? He will help by setting picks for Rudy Gay, something no one down there did well?

Because he doesn't complain and that team is filled with complainers, players like Stromile Swift and other busts like Darko Milicic and a diva named Pau Gasol?

Because he actually has a record of TEAM accomplishment, having played in 75 playoff games in six years and played twice in the NBA Finals and Memphis has never gotten out of the first round?

Who the hell is gonna step up and score 30+ a night like Collins? With our luck he turns into Shaq in his prime over in Memphis..

Is the trade actually "done" or is it just agreed upon (meaning it will be "done" on Monday)?

If they are having a firesale and looking to get way under the cap why not Magloire, Nachbar and Wright for Miller? Throw in a 2nd rounder.

yeah, to bad iavaroni wants to play uptempo and collins is dead weight. nobody offered anything for swift and he was obviously casuing a problem so the grizz jumped the gun. remember, this is the same team that traded gasol for kwame brown, memphis wants to get rid of the bad mouths so they trade the complainers in gasol and swift, collins has no menaing to them and you're attempt to hype this guy up is sad indeed seeing as you keep saying the game has gone away from him. you're just one big nets propoganda machine, you rarely have any opinion of your own

I posted this before the Laker trade actually went down. Not too far fetched. Actually would've been better for Memphis.
    <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Okay here's a 14 player 3 team trade: NJ-Memphis-LA

Memphis drops $18mm in long term contracts and gain 2 prospects in Sean Williams and Javaris Crittenton plus the Nets & Lakers 1st rounders.
Lakers keep all of their core and add Kidd and Nachbar.
Nets get Gasol, Miller, and Navarro but get saddled with the contracts of Radman and Swift.</div>

lol only if Frank promises to play Sean Williams, Stromile Swift, and Hakim Warrick at the same time.
