Reported by Ric Bucher http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-30-5....html?post=true Ric Bucher say that he has heard Andrew Bynum could possibly miss the rest of the season.
So? This is Ric Bucher. He's the same guy who said Kobe Bryant wouldn't even suit up for us this season. I'll believe it when I hear a more credible source. I honestly doubt this is true. In his interviews after the injury, Bynum always seemed somewhat upbeat and optimistic. I can't see how 8 weeks can turn into an entire season.
If true, that really sucks. The day was really good for Laker fans, acquiring Gasol and all, but Bynum being out for the rest of the season really ruins the mood.
Mitch just said during his interview on LTV that he fully expects Bynum to return this season, and that there has been absolutely no setbacks in his recovery. I don't see why Mitch would lie about this, and given Ric Bucher's past, I believe he just pulled something out of his ass to generate some attention.

I don't completely believe or disregard Bucher, this is just something we should keep track of. I could see how Bynum might be out a little longer than we were lead on, this happens a lot. Whatever, the Lakers are still loaded and I'm excited.
Bucher seems to be known for this kind of garbage false reporting. If Mitch himself said that Bynum should make it back this season, then it doesn't make sense otherwise.
For some odd reason, I don't foresee this happening. You know Bynum is going to work his ass off to get back and contribute to this team again.
Seriously, just give Bucher a pat on his back, hang his "report" up on the refrigerator, and send him on his way. He's fast becoming the West Coast's Peter Vecsey.
That was as the game vs. the Knicks, right? He said that the swelling was drastically down though. He said he fully expects to be back in time, as well. I remember reading that the swelling for injuries like this is pretty bad and is one of the longest parts of being out. The other part is the pain, the rehab is supposed to go pretty smoothly once you can begin. The speed of it depends on your pain threshold.
Bynum got hurt, consequently, against the Grizz actually. And Mamba's right. The only reason it's an 8 week rehab as opposed to 4-6 is because of the swelling. If there wasn't as much swelling there, it'd be quicker cause he wouldn't be prevented from starting rehab the way he is with swelling.

Bucher might still be exaggerating but teams are wrong about injuries all the time. Bynum doesn't necessarily have to be out the rest of the season for Ric's core message to be right. And if anyone heard Kobe over the offseason, how could one not expect him to have gotten traded? Bucher just shouldn't have 100% guarantee it would happen.
Very correct huevon, and I'm not saying that I disagree with you, I'm just taking what the Lakers say at face value. They said it was a dislocated knee cap and a bunch of swelling, so who am I not to believe them? They said 8 weeks depending on pain tolerance, so who am I not to believe them? Until a person comes out from the Lakers FO or coaching staff and says Bynum might miss the rest of the year, I'm not going to believe someone like Ric Bucher.
